A model of dynamic damage by void nucleation and growth is proposed for elastic-viscoplastic materials sustaining intense loading. The model is dedicated to ductile materials for which fracture is caused by microvoiding. The material contains potential nucleation sites where microvoids are generated when the local pressure overcomes the nucleation pressure. A probability density function is adopted to describe the fluctuation of the nucleation pressure within the material. The void growth is described by using a hollow sphere model where micro-inertia effects are accounted for. The matrix weakening due to void growth is also included.The model has been first tested under uniaxial deformation. When the strain rate is assumed constant, the pressure inside the material has nearly a linear response up to a maximum. An analytical expression for the maximum pressure is proposed.Finite element simulations of plate impact tests have been carried out and compared to experiments on tantalum. From simulations based on the proposed model, an increase of the spall strength is observed with higher shock intensities. Therefore, the relationship between the velocity pullback and spall strength usually assumed in the literature (based on the acoustic approach) seems to be inadequate. Velocity profiles are simulated for different flyer thicknesses and different impact velocities with close agreement with experiments.  相似文献

This paper presents a topology optimization of single material phononic crystal plate (PhP) to be produced by perforation of a uniform background plate. The primary objective of this optimization study is to explore widest exclusive bandgaps of fundamental (first order) symmetric or asymmetric guided wave modes as well as widest complete bandgap of mixed wave modes (symmetric and asymmetric). However, in the case of single material porous phononic crystals the bandgap width essentially depends on the resultant structural integration introduced by achieved unitcell topology. Thinner connections of scattering segments (i.e. lower effective stiffness) generally lead to (i) wider bandgap due to enhanced interfacial reflections, and (ii) lower bandgap frequency range due to lower wave speed. In other words higher relative bandgap width (RBW) is produced by topology with lower effective stiffness. Hence in order to study the bandgap efficiency of PhP unitcell with respect to its structural worthiness, the in-plane stiffness is incorporated in optimization algorithm as an opposing objective to be maximized. Thick and relatively thin Polysilicon PhP unitcells with square symmetry are studied. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm NSGA-II is employed for this multi-objective optimization problem and modal band analysis of individual topologies is performed through finite element method. Specialized topology initiation, evaluation and filtering are applied to achieve refined feasible topologies without penalizing the randomness of genetic algorithm (GA) and diversity of search space. Selected Pareto topologies are presented and gradient of RBW and elastic properties in between the two Pareto front extremes are investigated. Chosen intermediate Pareto topology, even not extreme topology with widest bandgap, show superior bandgap efficiency compared with the results reported in other works on widest bandgap topology of asymmetric guided waves, available in the literature. Finally, steady state and transient frequency response of finite thin PhP structures of selected Pareto topologies are studied and validity of obtained bandgaps is confirmed.  相似文献

In order to carry thin plates, vacuum cups are frequently used. When the over-hang is large, the deflections and stresses of the plate have considerably large values. In this paper, the rectangular plate hung by circular vacuum cups is treated. The analysis is carried out for the plate, which is subjected to line loads and radial bending moments at the inner circular boundary and free at the outer rectangular boundary. In addition to these boundary conditions, the plate is subjected to different distributed loads on inner and outer domains. First, the general solutions for the deflections on each domain are obtained by using infinite series, which are expressed by the polar coordinate system. The several undetermined constants in these equations are decreased by the conditions of continuity at the inner boundaries. Satisfying the boundary conditions at the finite points on the outer edges of the plate, the deflections and stresses of the plate and the contact pressures between the plate and the vacuum cup are calculated. Typical results are presented in dimensionless graphical form for different parameters and vacuum cup edge conditions.  相似文献

Damped transient dynamic elasto-plastic analysis of plate is investigated. A finite element model based on a C 0 higher order shear deformation theory has been developed. Nine noded Lagrangian elements with five degrees of freedom per node are used. Selective Gauss integration is used to evaluate energy terms so as to avoid shear locking and spurious mechanisms. Von Mises and Tresca yield criteria are incorporated along with associated flow rules. Explicit central difference time stepping scheme is employed to integrate temporal equations. The mass matrix is diagonalized by using the efficient proportional mass lumping scheme. A program is developed for damped transient dynamic finite element analysis of elasto-plastic plate. Several numerical examples are studied to unfold different facets of damping of elasto-plastic plates.  相似文献
