In tilted magnetic fields a bilayer electron–hole system is found to generate a photocurrent under terahertz radiation as the system is tuned to electron cyclotron resonance conditions. The photoinduced current amplitude oscillates with the magnetic field in correlation with Shubnikov–de Haas oscillations for electrons. The phenomenon is accounted for by a photomagnetic effect in electron–hole systems in the quantum Hall regime and has potentialities for terahertz detection and spectroscopy. 相似文献

General integral relations expressing the droplet radius and time of the droplet nonstationary growth as nonlinear functions of solution concentration in the droplet have been derived. These relations are valid for a supercritical droplet (i.e., sufficiently large droplet, for which the Laplace pressure effect on the concentration at saturation of vapors is negligible) isothermally growing via stationary diffusion in the mixture of two condensing vapors and an incondensable carrier gas. The initial composition in the droplet may be arbitrary and partial molecular volumes of components are not fixed. Explicit analytical relations have been found for droplet composition and the droplet size as functions of time at small deviations from the stationary concentration in the growing droplet. These relations show that the assumption of the steady droplet growth rate is not valid for non-small deviations from the stationary concentration. Some illustrations of the general nonlinear theory have been done in situation when solution in the droplet can be considered ideal. 相似文献

The conductivity behavior of Al(OH)3-acrylamide hybrid polyacrylamide (hybrid PAAm) in distilled water was studied. A discontinuity phenomenon of the conductivity (k) versus concentration (c) curve of the hybrid PAAm in a certain concentration regime is found. This phenomenon is dependent on the molecular weight of the hybrid PAAm and on the particle size and content of the Al(OH)3 colloid in the hybrid PAAm. In this research, adiabatic two-phase air-water flow was investigated, and results for smooth and ribbed rectangular ducts are presented here. The test fluids were air and water at approximately atmospheric conditions. Three ribs of different heights were used; the rib width and pitch were held constant. The ribs were positioned in the duct at three different locations to establish three different conditions: on the bottom wall (water side), on the top wall (air side) and on both the top and bottom walls. The flow regimes in the smooth and ribbed ducts, which were recorded with a video camera, were classified as plug, stratified, slug and wavy flow. The location of the ribs in the duct did not alter the shape of the flow regimes, but the regime boundaries were considerably changed (repositioned). The effects of using ribs of different heights on regime boundaries are represented with flow map diagrams and discussed in detail. Compared to the smooth duct, the ribbed duct had different regime boundary positions. Increasing the rib height initiated hydrodynamical instability at lower fluid velocities. This paper presents experimental investigations on nitrogen/non-Newtonian fluid two-phase flow in vertical noncircular microchannels, which have square or triangular cross-section with the hydraulic diameters being Dh = 2.5, 2.886 and 0.866 mm, respectively, by visualization method. Three non-Newtonian aqueous solutions with typical rheological properties, i.e., 0.4% carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), 0.2% polyacrylamide (PAM) and 0.2% xanthan gum (XG) are chosen as the working fluids. The common flow patterns are identified as slug flow, churn flow and annular flow. The dispersed bubble flow is only found in the case with nitrogen/CMC solution two-phase flow in the largest channel. A new flow pattern of nitrogen/PAM solution two-phase flow, named chained bubble/slug flow, is observed in all the test channels. The flow regime maps are also developed and the results show that the rheological properties of the non-Newtonian fluid have remarkable influence on the flow pattern transitions. The geometrical factors of the microchannel such as the cross-section shape and hydraulic diameter of the channel can also affect the flow regime map. Finally, the results obtained in this work are compared with the available flow pattern transitions. 相似文献

Using the method of matched asymptotic expansions, an analytical solution of the balance equation for turbulence energy is constructed for a shallow basin (sea) in which the fluid depth does not exceed the Stokes layer thickness. In this case, a gradient-viscous balance is established with the turbulent viscosity being balanced mainly by the pressure gradient. It is shown that nonlinear boundary layers attributable to turbulence energy diffusion are formed near the bottom and the free surface (or ice). In the neighborhood of the point of maximum flow velocity (if this maximum is attained inside the flow), a nonlinear internal boundary layer also develops. Outside these layers, the turbulence energy generation is in the first approximation balanced by the energy dissipation. Asymptotic solutions for the boundary layers are constructed. 相似文献

Using the Boussinesq buoyancy approximation, we study a bubble of reaction products rising in the reactant fluid under the influence of gravity. Reaction on the surface of the bubble (the flame) results in an increase of the volume of the bubble. We consider fluids with low Prandtl and high Froude numbers (heat diffusion dominates over viscous dissipation, and burning dominates over gravitational effects). We show that, under these conditions, all initially small bubbles follow the same growth pattern, regardless of the flame speed, the reaction type, the gravity, the viscosity, the initial size, and, to some extent, the initial shape of the bubble. In the initial stage of this similarity solution a bubble grows radially in an essentially motionless fluid until it reaches some critical size, which is determined by the laminar flame speed, the gravitational acceleration, and the Atwood number. Once the bubble reaches the critical size, convection becomes significant and the bubble evolves into a more complicated, mushroom-like shape. The similarity solution is expressed using the critical bubble size for the unit length and the critical size divided by the laminar flame speed as the unit time. 相似文献
