蛋白质-蛋白质相互作用界面统计分析

以作者开发的从蛋白质结合部位推导出其界面所具有的疏水性质和氢键性质的计算程序PP_SITE为基础,利用蛋白质结构数据库(PDB),对蛋白质-蛋白质相互作用界面进行了统计分析.从PDB中挑出非冗余的链间相互作用对,计算出这个数据集中所有链间界面的疏水和氢键相互作用特征.对得到的界面特征进行统计分析,寻找能够明显聚类的界面特征.结果表明，界面大小、氢键和疏水相互作用在界面所占比例以及疏水相互作用的集中程度可以作为分类的依据.     

模式识别—人工神经网络在化学中的若干新应用

本文通过我们应用模式识别－人工神经网络方法预报新化合物、熔盐相图以及复杂化学反应体系的研究，展示应用模式识别－人工神经网络方法与物理化学理论相结合，研究化学现象的可能性和应用价值。     

Sedimentation and drying dissipative structures of colloidal silica (1.2 μm in diameter) suspensions in a glass dish and a polystyrene dish

Sedimentation and drying dissipative structural patterns formed in the course of drying colloidal silica spheres (1.2 μm in diameter) in aqueous suspension have been studied in a glass dish and a polystyrene dish. The broad ring patterns are formed within a short time in suspension state by the convection flow of water and colloidal spheres. The broad ring patterns are not formed when a dish is covered with a cap, which demonstrates the important role of the convectional flow of silica spheres and water accompanied with the evaporation of water on the air-suspension interface. The sedimentary spheres always move by the convectional flow of water, and the broad ring patterns became sharp with time. Broad ring and microscopic fine structures are formed in the solidification processes on the bases of the convectional and sedimentation patterns. Drying patterns of the colloidal suspensions containing sodium chloride are star-like ones, which strongly supports the synchronous cooperative interactions between the salt and colloidal spheres.     

径向基-偏最小二乘-贝叶斯方法及其在化学模式分类中的应用

提出一种用于模式分类的RBF-PLS—Bayes方法。它集成地应用径向基(RBF)变换与偏最小二乘(PLS)方法，从原有模式中提取出分类能力甚强的成分，然后进行贝叶斯(Bayes)判别。这种集成方法尤其适用于复杂化学信息的模式分类，本文将其应用于两种类型的化学模式分类问题，均取得了令人满意的效果。与经典的判别分析方法和单纯的神经网络方法相比，具有明显的优越性。     

Special solutions for an equation arising in sand ripple dynamics

We study a nonlinear fourth order evolution equation arising in the context of sand ripple dynamics. We analyse the set of stationary solutions and travelling waves in order to recover the observed phenomenology such as different wavelengths ripples, travelling waves, coarsening and time scales. Moreover, we construct an approximate solution which describes the early stages of the dynamics and which suggests the existence of coarsening and of time scales with different dynamical behaviour.

The lower estimate for linear positive operators,I

A method to prove lower estimates for linear operators is introduced. As a result the best lower estimate for certain convolution operators, for the multivariate Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators in part I and the Bernstein polynomial operators in part II (see [10]), are obtained.Communicated by Hubert Berens     

Shape-preserving approximation inL p

We prove a direct theorem for shape preservingL _p -approximation, 0p, in terms of the classical modulus of smoothnessw ₂(f, t _p ¹ ). This theorem may be regarded as an extension toL _p of the well-known pointwise estimates of the Timan type and their shape-preserving variants of R. DeVore, D. Leviatan, and X. M. Yu. It leads to a characterization of monotone and convex functions in Lipschitz classes (and more general Besov spaces) in terms of their approximation by algebraic polynomials.Communicated by Ron DeVore.     

Degree of approximation of analytic functions by “near-best” polynomial approximants

We study the rate of approximation of a functionfA(K) in the interior of the compact setK by polynomials, that are close to best polynomial approximants on the whole setK. Lower and upper estimates of possible improvement of convergence (depending on the geometry ofK) are obtained.Communicated by Vilmos Totik.
