We consider nonconforming multigrid methods for symmetric positive definite second and fourth order elliptic boundary value problems which do not have full elliptic regularity. We prove that there is a bound () for the contraction number of the -cycle algorithm which is independent of mesh level, provided that the number of smoothing steps is sufficiently large. We also show that the symmetric variable -cycle algorithm is an optimal preconditioner.

A sequence of least‐squares problems of the form miny∥G1/2(AT y?h)∥2, where G is an n×n positive‐definite diagonal weight matrix, and A an m×n (m?n) sparse matrix with some dense columns; has many applications in linear programming, electrical networks, elliptic boundary value problems, and structural analysis. We suggest low‐rank correction preconditioners for such problems, and a mixed solver (a combination of a direct solver and an iterative solver). The problem of interpolation of scattered data on the unit sphere has many applications in geodesy and Earth science in which the sphere is taken as a model for the Earth. Spherical radial basis functions provide a convenient tool for constructing the interpolant. However, the underlying linear systems tend to be ill-conditioned. In this paper, we present an additive Schwarz preconditioner for accelerating the solution process. An estimate for the condition number of the preconditioned system will be discussed. Under the assumption that all eigenvalues of the preconditioned Schur complement are real, we present an analytical proof for obtaining the optimal convergence factor of the real accelerated parameterized inexact Uzawa (APIU) method when P=A. It is proved that the optimal convergence factor is the same as that of the generalized successive overrelaxation method, which was published at the same time, and that it can be attained only at the unique optimum point of parameters, regardless of whether m>n or m=n. ABSTRACTNumerical simulations of the tandem-system flow are widely conducted because of the complex interactions of the configuration. The cavitation phenomenon is an important factor that affects the hydrofoil in tandem. In this paper, we developed a new parameter for the Kunz preconditioner based on the local cavitation volume fraction. To assess this parameter, a type of Fourier footprint analysis and numerical test of the hydrofoil are adopted. The preconditioning method is also conducted in hydrofoil turbulent cavitation flows with RANS turbulence models, to prove that this method has good stability and convergence. Based on this, a tandem Clark-Y hydrofoil configuration is investigated. The results show that the distance of components has a strong influence on the cavitation and lift coefficient of the tandem hydrofoils. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide guidance on the design of marine vehicles that have tandem configurations. 相似文献
