Linear complementarity and discounted switching controller stochastic games

The class of discounted switching controller stochastic games can be solved in one step by a linear complementarity program (LCP). Following the proof of this technical result is a discussion of a special formulation and initialization of a standard LCP pivoting algorithm which has, in numerical experiments, always terminated in a complementary solution. That the LCP algorithm as formulated always finds a complementary solution has not yet been proven, but these theoretical and experimental results have the potential to provide an alternative proof of the ordered field property for these games. Numerical experimentation with the reformulated LCP is reviewed.     

Submodular linear programs on forests

A general linear programming model for an order-theoretic analysis of both Edmonds' greedy algorithm for matroids and the NW-corner rule for transportation problems with Monge costs is introduced. This approach includes the model of Queyranne, Spieksma and Tardella (1993) as a special case. We solve the problem by optimal greedy algorithms for rooted forests as underlying structures. Other solvable cases are also discussed.     

Platinum catalyst on ordered mesoporous carbon with controlled morphology for methanol electrochemical oxidation

Ordered mesoporous carbons CMK-3 with various morphologies are synthesized by using various mesoporous silica SBA-15 as template and then support to prepare Pt/CMK-3 catalyst. The obtained catalysts are compared in terms of the electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation in sulfuric acidic solutions. The structure characterizations and electrochemical analysis reveal that Pt catalysts with the CMK-3 support of large particle size and long channel lengths possess larger electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) and higher activity toward methanol oxidation than those with the other two supports. The better performance of Pt/CMK-3 catalyst may be due to the larger area of electrode/electrolyte interface and larger ECSA value of Pt catalyst, which will provide better structure in favor of the mass transport and the electron transport.     

Universal cycles of classes of restricted words

It is well known that Universal cycles (U-cycles) of k-letter words on an n-letter alphabet exist for all k and n. In this paper, we prove that Universal cycles exist for several restricted classes of words, including non-bijections, “equitable” words (under suitable restrictions), ranked permutations, and “passwords”. In each case, proving the connectedness of the underlying de Bruijn digraph is a non-trivial step.     

Ordered K-groups associated to substitutional dynamics

The Matsumoto K₀-group is an interesting invariant of flow equivalence for symbolic dynamical systems. Because of its origin as the K-theory of a certain C^∗-algebra, which is also a flow invariant, this group comes equipped with a flow invariant order structure. We emphasize this order structure and demonstrate how methods from operator algebra and symbolic dynamics combine to allow a computation of it in certain cases, including Sturmian and primitive substitutional shifts. In the latter case we show by example that the ordered group is a strictly finer invariant than the group itself.     

Exceptional family of elements for general order complementarity problems

The notion of exceptional family of elements for general order complementarity problems in Banach spaces will be introduced. It will be shown that for general order complementarity problems defined by completely continuous fields the problem has either a solution or an exceptional family of elements. Finite dimensional examples and an application to integral operators will be given.     

有序介孔SiO2的制备及其在色谱填料方面的应用

利用水热合成方法,在低浓度盐酸下用三嵌段共聚物EO106PO70EO106（F127）作为模板剂,在100℃,130℃和150℃的条件下,制备了3种笼型介孔二氧化硅.通过粉末N2气吸附-脱附实验表征其孔径（PD）及比表面积（BET）、扫描电镜（SEM）观察其表面形貌、透射电子显微镜（TEM）分析其微观结构;通过表征结果分析,该材料具有笼型介孔结构.同时,将该介孔材料应用在色谱分离方面,对氯苯,苯乙烯,1,2-二苯乙烯,联苯4种物质混合物进行分离,与其他多种二氧化硅材料比较,150℃的条件下合成的KIT-5-150分离效果最好.     

Fixed point theorems for multivalued operators and application to discontinuous quasilinear BVP's

In this article, we prove an abstract fixed point theorem for increasing multivalued operators in ordered topological spaces, which provides an efficient tool to obtain qualitative results on the solution set of discontinuous quasilinear elliptic boundary value problems. In particular, we are able to show the existence of extremal solutions of such problems.     

On spectral resolutions connected with self-adjoint differential vector-operators in a Hilbert space

We show that spectral resolutions of differential vector-operators may be represented as a specific direct sum integral operator with a kernel written in terms of generalized vector-operator eigenfunctions. Then we prove that a generalized eigenfunction measurable with respect to the spectral parameter may be decomposed using a set of analytical defining systems of coordinate operators.
