In this paper, we explore some issues related to adopting the Adomian decomposition method (ADM) to solve partial differential equations (PDEs), par-ticularly linear diffusion equations. Through a proposition, we show that extending the ADM from ODEs to PDEs poses some strong requirements on the initial and boundary conditions, which quite often are violated for problems encountered in en-gineering, physics and applied mathematics. We then propose a modified approach, based on combining the ADM with the Fourier series decomposition, to provide solu-tions for those problems when these conditions are not met. In passing, we shall also present an argument that would address a long-term standing“pitfall”of the original ADM and make this powerful approach much more rigorous in its setup. Numeri-cal examples are provided to show that our modified approach can be used to solve any linear diffusion equation (homogeneous or non-homogeneous), with reasonable smoothness of the initial and boundary data. 相似文献

In this paper, we deal with constraint qualifications, stationary concepts and optimality conditions for a nonsmooth mathematical program with equilibrium constraints (MPEC). The main tool in our study is the notion of convexificator. Using this notion, standard and MPEC Abadie and several other constraint qualifications are proposed and a comparison between them is presented. We also define nonsmooth stationary conditions based on the convexificators. In particular, we show that GS-stationary is the first-order optimality condition under generalized standard Abadie constraint qualification. Finally, sufficient conditions for global or local optimality are derived under some MPEC generalized convexity assumptions. 相似文献

In this paper we apply the Douglas–Rachford (DR) method to solve the problem of finding a point in the intersection of the interior of a closed convex cone and a closed convex set in an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space. For this purpose, we propose two variants of the DR method which can find a point in the intersection in a finite number of iterations. In order to analyse the finite termination of the methods, we use some properties of the metric projection and a result regarding the rate of convergence of fixed point iterations. As applications of the results, we propose the methods for solving the conic and semidefinite feasibility problems, which terminate at a solution in a finite number of iterations. 相似文献

This paper studies the weighted Hardy inequalities on the discrete intervals with four different kinds of boundary conditions. The main result is the uniform expression of the basic estimate of the optimal constant with the corresponding boundary condition. Firstly, one-side boundary condition is considered, which means that the sequences vanish at the right endpoint (ND-case). Based on the dual method, it can be translated into the case vanishing at left endpoint (DN-case). Secondly, the condition is the case that the sequences vanish at two endpoints (DD-case). The third type of condition is the generality of the mean zero condition (NN-case), which is motivated from probability theory. The convergence analysis of a nonlinear Lagrange algorithm for solving nonlinear constrained optimization problems with both inequality and equality constraints is explored in detail. The estimates for the derivatives of the multiplier mapping and the solution mapping of the proposed algorithm are discussed via the technique of the singular value decomposition of matrix. Based on the estimates, the local convergence results and the rate of convergence of the algorithm are presented when the penalty parameter is less than a threshold under a set of suitable conditions on problem functions. Furthermore, the condition number of the Hessian of the nonlinear Lagrange function with respect to the decision variables is analyzed, which is closely related to efficiency of the algorithm. In this paper, we investigate the use of ultra weak variational formulation to solve a wave scattering problem in near field optics. In order to capture the sub-scale features of waves, we utilize evanescent wave functions together with plane wave functions to approximate the local properties of the field.
