Rearrangements in Real Estate Investments

In this note we consider an investment problem in real estate. We show that it can be formulated in terms of a constrained optimization problem, and this leads to a linear rearrangement optimization problem. We address existence, uniqueness, and symmetry of the optimal solution.     

Error estimates for the finite element solution of elliptic problems with nonlinear newton boundary conditions

The paper is concerned with the study of an elliptic boundary value problem with a nonlinear Newton boundary condition. The existence and uniqueness of the solution of the continuous pioblem is a consequence of the monotone operator theory. The main attention is paid to the investigation of the finite element approximation using numeriral integration for the evaluation of boundary integrals. The error estimates for the solution of the discrete finite element problem are derived     

Presmoothing the transition probabilities in the illness-death model

One major goal in clinical applications of multi-state models is the estimation of transition probabilities. In a recent paper, Meira-Machado et al. (2006) introduce a substitute for the Aalen-Johansen estimator in the case of a non-Markov illness-death model. The idea behind their estimator is to weight the data by the Kaplan-Meier weights pertaining to the distribution of the total survival time of the process. In this paper we propose a modification of Meira-Machado et al. (2006) estimator based on presmoothing. Consistency is established. We investigate the finite sample performance of the new estimator through simulations. Data from a study on colon cancer are used for illustration purposes.     

The Kalman condition for the boundary controllability of coupled parabolic systems. Bounds on biorthogonal families to complex matrix exponentials

This paper is devoted to prove the controllability to trajectories of a system of n one-dimensional parabolic equations when the control is exerted on a part of the boundary by means of m controls. We give a general Kalman condition (necessary and sufficient) and also present a construction and sharp estimates of a biorthogonal family in L²(0,T;C) to {tje−Λkt}.     

条件期望与三变量独立性的两个充要条件

随机事件的独立性、随机变量的独立性是概率统计中的重要概念,不少学者都在这方面有所讨论.本文作者讨论了三维连续型随机变量（X,Y,Z）中三个分量X,Y,Z的相互独立性、条件独立性,得到三个引理.利用条件期望及三个引理作者给出了三变量相互独立的两个充要条件.     

Banach空间中渐近非扩张非自身映射带误差Noor迭代的收敛性定理

本文主要对三个渐近非扩张非自身映射引入了一种新的投影型Noor迭代程序,并在一致凸Banach空间中给出了该Noor迭代序列的弱与强收敛性定理.我们的主要结果推广和改进了该领域许多近期的结果.     

广义凸函数的特征性质

提出广义凸集、广义凸函数、中间点广义凸函数、端点广义凸函数四个定义,通过定义条件P1,研究条件P1所蕴含的等式关系,进而得到一个基础性定理一稠密性定理和一个相对条件较弱的推论,最后将结果应用于若干不同类型的广义凸函数类,尤其是s-凸函数、几何凸函数、rp-凸函数,得到它们所共有的一个特征性质,即满足稠密性定理．     

General solution of Basset equation with Caputo generalized Hukuhara derivative

In this paper, the fuzzy Basset equation is introduced. This problem is related to the motion of a sphere in a viscous liquid when its parameters are fuzzy numbers. We investigate the existence and uniqueness of solution with converting the problem to a system of fuzzy fractional differential equation, and the solution is also obtained under Caputo generalized Hukuhara differentiability. Some examples show the effectiveness and efficiency our approach.
