Two-Frequency Autowave Processes in the Complex Ginzburg–Landau Equation

We study the complex Ginzburg–Landau equation with zero Neumann boundary conditions on a finite interval and establish that this boundary problem (with suitably chosen parameters) has countably many stable two-dimensional self-similar tori. The case of periodic boundary conditions is also investigated.

Global Smooth Solutions of the Equations of a Viscous,Heat - Conducting,One - Dimensional Gas with Density - Dependent Viscosity

We consider initial boundary value problems for the equations of the one-dimensional motion of a viscous, heat-conducting gas with density-dependent viscosity that decreases (to zero) with decreasing density. We prove that if the viscosity does not decrease to zero too rapidly, then smooth solutions exist globally in time.     

Combination of mixed finite element and Dirichlet-to-Neumann methods in nonlinear plane elasticity

We study the solvability and Galerkin approximation of an exterior hyperelastic interface problem arising in plane elasticity. The weak formulation is obtained from an appropriate combination of a mixed finite element approach with a Dirichlet-to-Neumann method. The derivation of our results is based on some tools from nonlinear functional analysis and the Babuska-Brezzi theory for variational problems with constraints.     

The Existence of Solutions to Sturm-Liouville Boundary Value Problems with Laplacian-like Operator

Abstract The existence of infinitely many solutions to Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem with aLaplacian-like operator is studied by applying generalized polar coordinates.     

Extended convergence results for the method of multipliers for nonstrictly binding inequality constraints

In this paper, we extend the classical convergence and rate of convergence results for the method of multipliers for equality constrained problems to general inequality constrained problems, without assuming the strict complementarity hypothesis at the local optimal solution. Instead, we consider an alternative second-order sufficient condition for a strict local minimum, which coincides with the standard one in the case of strict complementary slackness. As a consequence, new stopping rules are derived in order to guarantee a local linear rate of convergence for the method, even if the current Lagrangian is only asymptotically minimized in this more general setting. These extended results allow us to broaden the scope of applicability of the method of multipliers, in order to cover all those problems admitting loosely binding constraints at some optimal solution. This fact is not meaningless, since in practice this kind of problem seems to be more the rule rather than the exception.In proving the different results, we follow the classical primaldual approach to the method of multipliers, considering the approximate minimizers for the original augmented Lagrangian as the exact solutions for some adequate approximate augmented Lagrangian. In particular, we prove a general uniform continuity property concerning both their primal and their dual optimal solution set maps, a property that could be useful beyond the scope of this paper. This approach leads to very simple proofs of the preliminary results and to a straight-forward proof of the main results.The author gratefully acknowledges the referees for their helpful comments and remarks. Exact boundary observability for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations

By means of a direct and constructive method based on the theory of semi‐global C² solution, the local exact boundary observability and an implicit duality between the exact boundary controllability and the exact boundary observability are shown for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations with various boundary conditions. 利用范数形式的锥上不动点定理,研究了一类二阶微分方程三点边值问题单调正解的存在性．分别给出了齐次和非齐次边界条件下的三点边值问题单调正解存在的充分条件,确定了解曲线的凹凸性,并且给出了一个应用实例．     

在可交换四元数空间中的双曲方程的特征边值问题

讨论了一阶和二阶双曲复方程的特征边值问题.对其中两种线性方程,分别在不同的情况下获得通解和可解条件.而对于拟线性的二阶双曲复方程,证明了解的存在性和唯一性.     

A complete boundary integral formulation for compressible Navier–Stokes equations

A complete boundary integral formulation for compressible Navier–Stokes equations with time discretization by operator splitting is developed using the fundamental solutions of the Helmholtz operator equation with different order. The numerical results for wall pressure and wall skin friction of two‐dimensional compressible laminar viscous flow around airfoils are in good agreement with field numerical methods.
