Both theoretical analysis and numerical experiments in the literature have shown that the Tyrtyshnikov circulant superoptimal preconditioner for Toeplitz systems can speed up the convergence of iterative methods without amplifying the noise of the data. Here we study a family of Tyrtyshnikov‐based preconditioners for discrete ill‐posed Toeplitz systems with differentiable generating functions. In particular, we show that the distribution of the eigenvalues of these preconditioners has good regularization features, since the smallest eigenvalues stay well separated from zero. Population balance equations in terms of generating functions (GF) are used to predict chain length distributions (CLD) of linear and non‐linear ideal controlled radical polymerization (CRP) systems. It is here shown that under simplified conditions analytical solutions for the CLD can be found and moreover the fundamental CLD derived by H. Tobita in 2006 is a limiting case of the more general solutions here presented. In order to deal with more complex CRP systems, solutions based upon the numerical inversion of GF are presented. These studies are also extended to the non‐linear CRP of vinyl/divinyl monomers where multimodal CLDs are predicted to occur.

Abstract ABSTRACT This paper presents a new solution method for several types of buckling and bending problems of beams and plates. The method is based on the use of a non-orthogonal series expansion, consisting of some specially chosen trigonometric functions for the elastic curve y of a beam or the deflection surface w of a plate. The calculations are performed using the Euler and Bernoulli polynomials, under realistic approximations of limiting values of the boundary conditions. In the present paper, laser pulse distortion/breakup and the effect of the plasma channel on the laser propagation through the collisional plasma have been studied by using moment theory approach. Second order nonlinear differential equations of the beam width parameter have been derived for the propagation of the laser through uniform homogenous plasma and preformed plasma channel having parabolic density profile. Differential equations of beam width parameter have been solved numerically using Runge Kutta method. It has been observed from analysis that when the laser pulse propagates through the homogenous plasma, the low intensity front and rear parts of the laser get defocused/diffracted and the high intensity central/main portion of the laser pulse gets self-guided. As a result of this, the laser pulse gets distorted. This distortion of the laser has not been observed when the laser pulse is propagated through the plasma channel having density minimum at the axis and maximum at the edges. The laser pulse is guided as a whole, even the low intensity front and rear parts of the laser are also guided. Therefore, the plasma channel is useful to prevent the distortion/breakup of the laser. 相似文献

In this research paper, we propose a two-hop integrated radio frequency–visible light communication (RF–VLC) system which may provide a better option to transceive between the hospitals and some laboratory to transfer patient’s information. In the proposed system model, the data (such as patient’s lab test reports) is transmitted towards the amplify and forward (AF) relay mounted on the top of the hospital building via the RF channel. Further, the AF relay amplifies and converts the received information into corresponding optical signal using light emitting diodes (LED) and supporting circuitry. This optical signal is then forwarded towards the destination device (equipped with VLC transceiver), via the VLC channel. To analyse the performance of the system, we first derive the closed form analytical expressions for the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the end-to-end (e2e) signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the system by using the moment generating function (MGF) of the SNR of the individual RF and VLC channels. Further, we use these statistical expressions to obtain the outage probability, average bit error rate (BER) and the average capacity of the system. Moreover, the asymptotic performance of the proposed system is also analysed to study the system’s behaviour at high SNR regimes. Finally, we studied the impact of the variations in channel parameters on the proposed system model performance through numerically simulated plots. 相似文献

We consider in this paper the efficient ways to generate multi-stage scenario trees. A general modified K-means clustering method is first presented to generate the scenario tree with a general structure. This method takes the time dependency of the simulated path into account. Based on the traditional and modified K-means analyses, the moment matching of multi-stage scenario trees is described as a linear programming (LP) problem. By simultaneously utilizing simulation, clustering, non-linear time series and moment matching skills, a sequential generation method and another new hybrid approach which can generate the whole multi-stage tree right off are proposed. The advantages of these new methods are: the vector autoregressive and multivariate generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (VAR-MGARCH) model is adopted to properly reflect the inter-stage dependency and the time-varying volatilities of the data process, the LP-based moment matching technique ensures that the scenario tree generation problem can be solved more efficiently and the tree scale can be further controlled, and in the meanwhile, the statistical properties of the random data process are maintained properly. What is more important, our new LP methods can guarantee at least two branches are derived from each non-leaf node and thus overcome the drawback in relevant papers. We carry out a series of numerical experiments and apply the scenario tree generation methods to a portfolio management problem, which demonstrate the practicality, efficiency and advantages of our new approaches over other models or methods. 相似文献
