Cauchy problems for linear thermoelastic systems of type III in one space variable

The goal of the paper is to analyse properties of solutions for linear thermoelastic systems of type III in one space variable. Our approach does not use energy methods, it bases on a special diagonalization procedure which is different in different parts of the phase space. This procedure allows to derive explicit representations of solutions. These representations help to prove results for well‐posedness of the Cauchy problem, L^P–L^q decay estimates on the conjugate line and results for propagation of singularities. Luminescence and lifetime characteristics of microphases in KCl:KI:Pb mixed crystals

Absorption and luminiscence measurements were performed on lead-doped KCl:KI mixed single crystals. Strong differences were found between as-grown and quenched samples. New bands were observed in the absorption spectra of unquenched samples in the spectral region between the limit positions of the A bands, corresponding to chloride or iodide lattices. The strong band at 449 nm dominates the luminescence of these samples at low temperatures. Its kinetics have a complicated form and the decay time is in the interval from ns to ms. Quenched samples have a well-known luminescence spectrum caused by octahedral lead impurity centres in KCl single crystals. The kinetics, however, also indicate mixed chlorine and iodine coordination of lead in the investigated crystals.     

横向射流式单重态氧发生器的性能实验研究

 对氧碘化学激光器的单重态氧发生器（SOG）进行了改进，采用横向射流方式，并对该横向射流式单重态氧发生器的性能进行了检测。实验中过氧化氢碱溶液温度控制在－16℃左右,氯气流量为530mmol/s，He与氯气的流量比为3;采用PS法测量单重态氧分子的产率,吸收法测量氯气的利用率和相对水含量。得出如下结论:在不使用冷阱和分离器的情况下，最高单重态氧分子产率达到58%, 氯气利用率在80%以上,相对水含量小于等于0.5;气体达到最大流量时,发生器仍然能稳定地工作。

On General Mixed Quasivariational Inequalities

In this paper, we suggest and analyze several iterative methods for solving general mixed quasivariational inequalities by using the technique of updating the solution and the auxiliary principle. It is shown that the convergence of these methods requires either the pseudomonotonicity or the partially relaxed strong monotonicity of the operator. Proofs of convergence is very simple. Our new methods differ from the existing methods for solving various classes of variational inequalities and related optimization problems. Various special cases are also discussed.     

On the identification of degenerate indices in the nonlinear complementarity problem with the proximal point algorithm

In this paper we focus on the problem of identifying the index sets P(x):=i|x_i>0, N(x):={i|F_i(x)>0 and C(x):=i|x_i=F_i(x)=0} for a solution x of the monotone nonlinear complementarity problem NCP(F). The correct identification of these sets is important from both theoretical and practical points of view. Such an identification enables us to remove complementarity conditions from the NCP and locally reduce the NCP to a system which can be dealt with more easily. We present a new technique that utilizes a sequence generated by the proximal point algorithm (PPA). Using the superlinear convergence property of PPA, we show that the proposed technique can identify the correct index sets without assuming the nondegeneracy and the local uniqueness of the solution.This work was supported in part by a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture of Japan.Mathematics Subject Classification (2000): 90C33, 65K10     

A remark on the Riemann‐Hilbert problem with a vanishing coefficient

This paper concerns the existence of nontrivial solutions of the Riemann‐Hilbert problem with a continuous coefficient whose values belong to two rays in the complex plane. Allocating electricity transmission costs through tracing: a game-theoretic rationale

Tracing is a method of assigning flows in an electricity network to particular generators and loads, assuming perfect mixing at each node. It can be used to assign costs to transmission users. We show that the resulting allocation is equal to the Shapley value of an equivalent co-operative game.     

A branch and bound algorithm for the robust shortest path problem with interval data

Many real problems can be modelled as robust shortest path problems on interval digraphs, where intervals represent uncertainty about real costs and a robust path is not too far from the shortest path for each possible configuration of the arc costs.A branch and bound algorithm for this problem is presented.     

Local approximations for maximum partial subgraph problem

We deal with MAXH₀-FREE PARTIAL SUBGRAPH. We mainly prove that 3-locally optimum solutions achieve approximation ratio (δ₀+1)/(B+2+ν₀), where B=max_v∈Vd_G(v), δ₀=min_v∈V(H0)d_H0(v) and ν₀=(|V(H₀)|+1)/δ₀. Next, we show that this ratio rises up to 3/(B+1) when H₀=K₃. Finally, we provide hardness results for MAXK₃-FREE PARTIAL SUBGRAPH.
