The Generalized KKM Map and Its Applications to Variational Inequalities

In this paper,applying the concept of generalized KKM map,we study problems ofvariational inequalities.We weaken convexity(concavity)conditions for a functional of two variables■(x,y)in the general variational inequalities.Last,we show a proof of non-topological degree meth-od of acute angle principle about monotone operator as an application of these results.

Symmetry of the Barochronous Motions of a Gas

We study the system of nonlinear differential equations which expresses the constancy of the algebraic invariants of the Jacobian matrix for smooth vector fields in three-dimensional space. This system is equivalent to the equations of gas dynamics which describe the barochronous motions of a gas (the pressure and density depend only on the time). We present the results of computation of the admissible local Lie group and construction of the general solution of the system. We mention a few new problems that arise here.     

PERIODIC BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR SECOND ORDER FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

This paper investigates the periodic boundary value problems for a class of second order functional differential equations. The monotone iterative technique and the maximum principle are applied to obtain the existence of maximal and minimal solutions.     

Partially Strictly Monotone and Nonlinear Penalty Functions for Constrained Mathematical Programs

We introduce the concept of partially strictly monotone functions and apply it to construct a class of nonlinear penalty functions for a constrained optimization problem. This class of nonlinear penalty functions includes some (nonlinear) penalty functions currently used in the literature as special cases. Assuming that the perturbation function is lower semi-continuous, we prove that the sequence of optimal values of nonlinear penalty problems converges to that of the original constrained optimization problem. First-order and second-order necessary optimality conditions of nonlinear penalty problems are derived by converting the optimality of penalty problems into that of a smooth constrained vector optimization problem. This approach allows for a concise derivation of optimality conditions of nonlinear penalty problems. Finally, we prove that each limit point of the second-order stationary points of the nonlinear penalty problems is a second-order stationary point of the original constrained optimization problem.     

Discrete Sturm–Liouville problems, Jacobi matrices and Lagrange interpolation series

The close relationship between discrete Sturm–Liouville problems belonging to the so-called limit-circle case, the indeterminate Hamburger moment problem and the search of self-adjoint extensions of the associated semi-infinite Jacobi matrix is well known. In this paper, all these important topics are also related with associated sampling expansions involving analytic Lagrange-type interpolation series.     

Propagation of singularities in Cauchy problems for quasilinear thermoelastic systems in three space variables

By using microlocal analysis, the propagation of weak singularities in Cauchy problems for quasilinear thermoelastic systems in three space variables are investigated. First, paradifferential operators are employed to decouple the quasilinear thermoelastic systems. Second, by investigating the decoupled hyperbolic-parabolic systems and using the classical bootstrap argument, the property of finite propagation speeds of singularities in Cauchy problems for the quasilinear thermoelastic systems is obtained. Finally, it is shown that the microlocal weak singularities for Cauchy problems of the thermoelastic systems are propagated along the null bicharacteristics of the hyperbolic operators.     

Coercive boundary value problems for regular degenerate differential-operator equations

This study focuses on nonlocal boundary value problems (BVP) for degenerate elliptic differential-operator equations (DOE), that are defined in Banach-valued function spaces, where boundary conditions contain a degenerate function and a principal part of the equation possess varying coefficients. Several conditions obtained, that guarantee the maximal L_p regularity and Fredholmness. These results are also applied to nonlocal BVP for regular degenerate partial differential equations on cylindrical domain to obtain the algebraic conditions that ensure the same properties.     

Non-compact generalized variational inequalities for quasi-monotone and hemi-continuous operators with applications

Some results are obtained for non-compact cases in topological vector spaces for the existence problem of solutions for some set-valued variational inequalities with quasi-monotone and lower hemi-continuous operators, and with quasi-semi-monotone and upper hemi-continuous operators. Some applications are given in non-reflexive Banach spaces for these existence problems of solutions and for perturbation problems for these set-valued variational inequalities with quasi-monotone and quasi-semi-monotone operators. A new property of Bernstein-Kantorovi? operators
