The familiar equivalence between σ-frames and σ-coherent frames, given by the frame envelopes of σ-frames, is shown to induce an equivalence between stably continuous σ-frames and stably continuous frames. Similarly, the analogue of the former for σ-biframes is proved to provide an equivalence between compact regular σ-biframes and compact regular biframes. As an application we obtain the equivalence between stably continuous σ-frames and compact regular σ-biframes due to Matutu as an easy consequence of its frame counterpart established earlier by Banaschewski and Brümmer. This provides an affirmative answer to a question posed by Dana Scott.  相似文献

It is shown that the multiplicative monoids of Temperley-Lieb algebras are isomorphic to monoids of endomorphisms in categories where an endofunctor is adjoint to itself. Such a self-adjunction is found in a category whose arrows are matrices, and the functor adjoint to itself is based on the Kronecker product of matrices. This self-adjunction underlies the orthogonal group case of Brauer's representation of the Brauer centralizer algebras.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce invariants of semi-free Hamiltonian actions of S1 on compact symplectic manifolds using the space of solutions to certain gauge theoretical equations. These equations generalise both the vortex equations and the holomorphicity equation used in Gromov-Witten theory. In the definition of the invariants we combine ideas coming from gauge theory and the ideas underlying the construction of Gromov-Witten invariants.  相似文献

We discuss growth rates of Betti numbers in a family of coverings of a compact cell complex X, when the corresponding L2 Betti number of X is zero. We show that the Betti numbers are bounded by a function, sub-linear in the order of the covering. If the appropriate Novikov-Shubin invariant of X is positive, the rate bounds are improved. For well behaved families (such as congruence covers of symmetric spaces), if the L2 spectrum of X? has a gap at zero then the growth rate is bounded by the order of the covering raised to a power less than one.  相似文献

The problem of optimal prediction in the stochastic linear regression model with infinitely many parameters is considered. We suggest a prediction method that outperforms asymptotically the ordinary least squares predictor. Moreover, if the random errors are Gaussian, the method is asymptotically minimax over ellipsoids in ?2. The method is based on a regularized least squares estimator with weights of the Pinsker filter. We also consider the case of dynamic linear regression, which is important in the context of transfer function modeling.  相似文献
