Summary The influence of the distance between the solvent entry and the starting zone positions, Z0, on the average plate height was studied. This factor was found to be of major importance and could be optimized. The Guiochon and Siouffi model greatly underestimates the plate height for low values of Z0.  相似文献

General and quasi-concave non-differentiable cases of the maximization of the minimun between two functions are considered. With the aid of duality theory for mathematical programming involving conjugate-like operators and by defining a bifunction we construct a new Lagrangian and generate a class of perturbations. New saddle-point theorems are presented, and equivalence is proved between the existence of a saddle-point and the existence of a certain cone-supporting property of the perturbation function. Lemke's algorithm for the linear complementarity problem fails when a desired pivot is not blocked. A projective transformation overcomes this difficulty. The transformation is performed computationally by adjoining a new row to a schema of the problem and pivoting on the element in this row and the unit constant column. A new programming algorithm for nonlinear constrained optimization problems is proposed. The method is based on the penalty function approach and thereby circumyents the necessity to maintain feasibility at each iteration, but it also behaves much like the gradient projection method. Although only first-order information is used, the algorithm converges asymptotically at a rate which is independent of the magnitude of the penalty term; hence, unlike the simple gradient method, the asymptotic rate of the proposed method is not affected by the ill-conditioning associated with the introduction of the penalty term. It is shown that the asymptotic rate of convergence of the proposed method is identical with that of the gradient projection method.Dedicated to Professor M. R. Defining a spin connection is necessary for formulating Dirac's bispinor equation in a curved space-time. Hestenes has shown that a bispinor field is equivalent to an orthonormal tetrad of vector fields together with a complex scalar field. In this paper, we show that using Hestenes' tetrad for the spin connection in a Riemannian space-time leads to a Yang-Mills formulation of the Dirac Lagrangian in which the bispinor field Ψ is mapped to a set of SL(2,RU(1) gauge potentials FαK and a complex scalar field ρ. This result was previously proved for a Minkowski space-time using Fierz identities. As an application we derive several different non-Riemannian spin connections found in the literature directly from an arbitrary linear connection acting on the tensor fields (FαK, ρ). We also derive spin connections for which Dirac's bispinor equation is form invariant. Previous work has not considered form invariance of the Dirac equation as a criterion for defining a general spin connection.  相似文献

The theoretical basis of a Gaussian-like approximate solution was applied to a chromatographic impulse response technique with curve fitting for measuring binary diffusion coefficients and retention factors using a polymer-coated capillary column. The formulae were derived for evaluating both the accuracy of the approximate solution and the sensitivity of the parameters. The validity of the solution also was confirmed experimentally for pulse injection of phenol in acetone into supercritical carbon dioxide flowing at 313.15 K and 11.6-28.6 MPa. Potential sources for experimental errors of the method are discussed.  相似文献

In this paper we explicitly solve a non-linear filtering problem with mixed observations, modelled by a Brownian motion and a generalized Cox process, whose jump intensity is given in terms of a Lévy measure. Motivated by empirical observations of R. Cont and P. Tankov we propose a model for financial assets, which captures the phenomenon of time inhomogeneity of the jump size density. We apply the explicit formula to obtain the optimal filter for the corresponding filtering problem.  相似文献

An optimal portfolio/control problem is considered for a two-dimen\-sional model in finance. A pair consisting of the wealth process and cumulutative consumption process driven by a geometric Lévy process is controlled by adapted processes. The international linear collider (ILC) is likely to provide us important insights into physics sector that may supersede our current paradigm, viz., the standard model. In anticipation of the possibility that the ILC may come up in the middle of the next decade, several groups are vigourously investigating its potential to explore this new sector of physics. The Linear Collider Workshop in Bangalore (LCWS06) had several presentations of such studies which looked at supersymmetry, extra dimensions and other exotic possibilities which the ILC may help us discover or understand. Some papers also looked at the understanding of cosmology that may emerge from studies at the ILC. This paper summarises these presentations.   相似文献
