Compact Manifolds Covered by a Torus

Let X be a compact complex manifold which is the image of a complex torus by a holomorphic surjective map A→X. We prove that X is Kähler and that up to a finite étale cover, X is a product of projective spaces by a torus.     

Studies of Some Curvature Operators in a Neighborhood of an Asymptotically Hyperbolic Einstein Manifold

On an asymptotically hyperbolic Einstein manifold (M,g₀) for which the Yamabe invariant of the conformal structure on the boundary at infinity is nonnegative, we show that the operators of Ricci curvature, and of Einstein curvature, are locally invertible in a neighborhood of the metric g₀. We deduce in the C^∞ case that the image of the Riemann-Christoffel curvature operator is a submanifold in a neighborhood of g₀.     

The geography of irreducible 4-manifolds

In this paper we investigate the existence and the uniqueness problems for simply connected irreducible -manifolds. By taking fiber sums along an embedded surface of square and by a rational blow-down procedure, we construct many new irreducible -manifolds which have infinitely many distinct smooth structures. Furthermore, we prove that all but at most finitely many lattice points lying in the non-positive signature region with are covered by these irreducible -manifolds.

     

Growth of heat trace and heat content asymptotic coefficients

We show in the smooth category that the heat trace asymptotics and the heat content asymptotics can be made to grow arbitrarily rapidly. In the real analytic context, however, this is not true and we establish universal bounds on their growth.     

On the K-stability of complete intersections in polarized manifolds

We consider the problem of existence of constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics on complete intersections of sections of vector bundles. In particular we give general formulas relating the Futaki invariant of such a manifold to the weight of sections defining it and to the Futaki invariant of the ambient manifold. As applications we give a new Mukai–Umemura–Tian like example of Fano 5-fold admitting no Kähler–Einstein metric, and a strong evidence of K-stability of complete intersections in Grassmannians.

Flat Partial Connections on a Three Manifold Equipped with a Codimension One Foliation

Given a compact connected oriented three manifold, equipped with a codimension one foliation, such that the Bott connection on the normal bundle is flat, a 2-form on the space parametrizing flat partial connections on it has been constructed. This form is closed. In the special case where the foliated three manifold is a surface bundle over the circle, this 2-form is identified with a certain 2-form on the parameter space for a class of paths in the representation space for the surface group. The 2-form, in question, on the parameter space for paths is constructed from the natural symplectic form on the representation space for a surface group.

Anti-holomorphic involutive isometry of hyper-Kähler manifolds and branes

We study complex Lagrangian submanifolds of a compact hyper-Kähler manifold and prove two results: (a) that an involution of a hyper-Kähler manifold which is antiholomorphic with respect to one complex structure and which acts non-trivially on the corresponding symplectic form always has a fixed point locus which is complex Lagrangian with respect to one of the other complex structures, and (b) there exist Lagrangian submanifolds which are complex with respect to one complex structure and are not the fixed point locus of any involution which is anti-holomorphic with respect to one of the other complex structures.
