We analytically model the transport of dirt in the industrial washing of wool using the advection–diffusion equation in two dimensions. Separation of variables leads to a Sturm–Liouville problem where the analytic solution reveals how contamination is distributed both along and down the wool and indicates the operating parameter regimes that optimise the cleaning efficiency.  相似文献

Phase space density representations of inviscid fluid dynamics were recently discussed by Abarbanel and Rouhi. Here it is shown that such representations may be simply derived and interpreted by means of the Liouville equation corresponding to the dynamical system of ordinary differential equations that describes fluid particle trajectories. The Hamiltonian and Poisson bracket for the phase space density then emerge as immediate consequences of the corresponding structure of the dynamics. For barotropic fluids, this approach leads by direct construction to the formulation presented by Abarbanel and Rouhi. Extensions of this formulation to inhomogeneous incompressible fluids and to fluids in which the state equation involves an additional transported scalar variable are constructed by augmenting the single-particle dynamics and phase space to include the relevant additional variable.  相似文献

We present a concrete holographic realization of the eternal inflation in (1+1)(1+1)-dimensional Liouville gravity by applying the philosophy of the FRW/CFT correspondence proposed by Freivogel, Sekino, Susskind and Yeh (FSSY). The dual boundary theory is nothing but the old matrix model describing the two-dimensional Liouville gravity coupled with minimal model matter fields. In Liouville gravity, the flat Minkowski space or even the AdS space will decay into the dS space, which is in stark contrast with higher-dimensional theories, but the spirit of the FSSY conjecture applies with only minimal modification. We investigate the classical geometry as well as some correlation functions to support our claim. We also study an analytic continuation to the time-like Liouville theory to discuss possible applications in (1+3)(1+3)-dimensional cosmology along with the original FSSY conjecture, where the boundary theory involves the time-like Liouville theory. We show that the decay rate in the (1+3)(1+3) dimension is more suppressed due to the quantum gravity correction of the boundary theory.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new approach of the generalized differential transform method (GDTM) for solving nonlinear fractional differential equations. In GDTM, it is a key to derive a recurrence relation of generalized differential transform (GDT) associated with the solution in the given fractional equation. However, the recurrence relations of complex nonlinear functions such as exponential, logarithmic and trigonometry functions have not been derived before in GDTM. We propose new algorithms to construct the recurrence relations of complex nonlinear functions and apply the GDTM with the proposed algorithms to solve nonlinear fractional differential equations. Several illustrative examples are demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. It is shown that the proposed technique is robust and accurate for solving fractional differential equations.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive the existence and uniqueness of mild solutions for inhomogeneous fractional evolution equations in Banach spaces by means of the method of fractional resolvent. Furthermore, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of strong solutions. The fractional Fokker–Planck equation has been used in various areas of engineering and physics. In this paper, we proposed a novel numerical scheme for solving the space fractional Fokker–Planck equation with the help of the [3, 3] Padé approximation. It is proved that the numerical method is unconditionally stable in view of the matrix analysis method.
