Feedback controlled periodic states for different kinds of photorefractive nonlinear response

We investigate analytically and numerically the influence of the type of the photorefractive nonlinear response on the periodic states (attractors) which occur during feedback controlled 2W-coupling and correspond to almost 100% diffraction efficiency of the dynamic index grating. In addition to the case of the local response typical, for example, for LiNbO₃ crystals we consider the cases of nonlocal (diffusive) response (BaTiO₃, SBN) and resonant response (DC-biased BSO, BTO, and BGO crystals). It is shown that the conditions for the transition to the periodic states and their apparent characteristics are strongly different for the two limiting cases above. Electronic transport properties of bismuth nanobridges through silicon-nitride membranes

The electronic transport through nanostructured bismuth nanobridges has been investigated at low temperatures (T<2 K) and in magnetic fields B up to 8.5 T. The samples show reproducible resistance fluctuations as a function of B, superimposed on a large magnetoresistance of up to 50%. In addition, time-dependent resistance fluctuations in zero magnetic field demonstrate the presence of bistable scatterers in the constriction region of our samples, which are described by two-level systems. Their dynamics are shown to be sensitive to subtle modifications of the static scatterer configuration in their vicinity, which cannot be detected in the sample magnetofingerprint.

讨论了求解无约束线性最小二乘问题的一种并行单纯形法以及对它的改进算法并行共轭梯度—单纯形法 .算法本身具有很强的并行机制 ,能够充分地发挥并行机快速省时的特点 .本文也对算法做了理论分析 ,对算法的收敛性给予了证明 (在二维情形下 ) .最后做了数值实验 (由于软硬件条件的限制 ,并行算法未能在并行计算机上实现 ,鉴于这种情况 ,我们所做的数值实验均是在串行机上完成的 )     

On the counting function of the lattice profile of periodic sequences

The lattice profile analyzes the intrinsic structure of pseudorandom number sequences with applications in Monte Carlo methods and cryptology. In this paper, using the discrete Fourier transform for periodic sequences and the relation between the lattice profile and the linear complexity, we give general formulas for the expected value, variance, and counting function of the lattice profile of periodic sequences with fixed period. Moreover, we determine in a more explicit form the expected value, variance, and counting function of the lattice profile of periodic sequences for special values of the period.     

CONVERGENCE OF CASCADE ALGORITHMS AND SMOOTHNESS OF REFINABLE DISTRIBUTIONS

In this paper, the author at first develops a method to study convergence of the cascade algorithm in a Banach space without stable assumption on the initial (see Theorem 2.1), and then applies the previous result on the convergence to characterizing compactly supported refinable distributions in fractional Sobolev spaces and Holder continuous spaces (see Theorems 3.1, 3.3, and 3.4). Finally the author applies the above characterization to choosing appropriate initial to guarantee the convergence of the cascade algorithm (see Theorem 4.2).     

An inner product lemma

Given the operator product BA in which both A and B are symmetric positive‐definite operators, for which symmetric positive‐definite operators C is BA symmetric positive‐definite in the C inner product 〈x, y〉C? Effective stability for generalized Hamiltonian systems

An effective stability result for generalized Hamiltonian systems is obtained by applying the simultaneous approximation technique due to Lochak. Among these systems, dimensions of action variables and angle variables might be distinct.     

Hybrid numerical—experimental approach for investigation of dynamics of microcantilever relay system

The time average holography measurements of the vibrating microelectromechanical switch (MEMS) were performed in this study. Experimental measurement results exhibit good agreement with computer generated holographic interferogram analysis. The validation of experimental investigations versus numerical analysis provides the necessary background to analyze the dynamical characteristics of micromechanical systems in virtual numerical environments. Direct application of fringe counting techniques for reconstruction of motion from time average holograms cannot be straightforward if the analyzed micromechanical systems contain motion limiters. Modifications of a classical time average holographic technique enable qualitative analysis of MEMS and can be applied for investigation of dynamical properties of much broader classes of MEMS systems.
