Flux and fluence dependence of disorder produced during implantation of 11B in silicon

The flux and fluence dependence of disorder produced in silicon during the implantation of ¹¹B has been investigated at room temperature, -50°C. and -120°C. Implantations were carried out with 200 keV ¹¹B ions using current densities in the range from 0.06μA/cm² to 15μA/cm², and the disorder monitored by measuring the energy spectra of backscattered protons which were incident on the sample at 450 keV parallel to a (110) axis. Significant differences in the dependence of the disorder on ¹¹B flux and fluence were observed between the implantations performed at room temperature and those carried out at the two lower temperatures.     

Color centers in irradiated MgF2

Abstract

Color centers in rutile-structured MgF₂ single crystals irradiated at 20K/360K by reactor neutrons are investigated spectroscopically at LNT. Four different types of the F-F vacancy bond in MgF₂ are possibly identified to the observed absorption bands as due to the F₂ centers; instead of previous assignments, the 300nm band to the F₂(D_2h), the 325nm band to the F₂(C₁), the 355nm band to the F₂(C_2v), and the 400nm band to the F₂(C_2h) centers.

Crystal planes and reciprocal space in Clifford geometric algebra

This paper discusses the geometry of kD crystal cells given by (k+ 1) points in a projective space ?^{n+ 1}. We show how the concepts of barycentric and fractional (crystallographic) coordinates, reciprocal vectors and dual representation are related (and geometrically interpreted) in the projective geometric algebra Cl(?^{n+ 1}) (see (Die Ausdehnungslehre von 1844 und die Geom. Anal. Teubner: Leipzig, 1894)) and in the conformal algebra Cl(?^{n+ 1, 1}). The crystallographic notions of d‐spacing, phase angle, structure factors, conditions for Bragg reflections, and the interfacial angles of crystal planes are obtained in the same context. Action of the Cremona group on a noncommutative ring

The Cremona group acts on the field of two independent commutative variables over complex numbers. We provide a noncommutative algebra that is an analog of a noncommutative field of two independent variables and prove that the Cremona group embeds in a group of outer automorphisms of this algebra. We give two proofs of it, the first proof is technical, the second one is conceptual and proceeds through a construction of a birational invariant of an algebraic variety from its bounded derived category of coherent sheaves.     

Gauss’ law of error revisited in the framework of Sharma-Taneja-Mittal information measure

We reformulate the Gauss’ law of error in presence of correlations which are taken into account by means of a deformed product arising in the framework of the Sharma-Taneja-Mittal measure. Having reviewed the main proprieties of the generalized product and its related algebra, we derive, according to the Maximum Likelihood Principle, a family of error distributions with an asymptotic power-law behavior.
