High temperature corrosion behaviour of M(Co,Ni)CrAIY-coatings on high temperature materials-microanalytical investigations

In our former investigations, the phenomenon high temperature corrosion (HTC) was described exemplarily on selected materialcoating combinations for blades of stationary gas turbines, mainly in the temperature region of up to 750° C. To answer the question, in which manner higher gas inlet and/or higher material surface temperature would influence the HTC behaviour, a special analytical technique—the integral layer profile analysis—was introduced to ameliorate concentration profile methods. By examining IN 738 LC specimens with CoCrAlY plasma spray coating, stressed by hot gas at 900° C, the limits of this system are shown by explaining the corrosion mechanism; the method is also used for other systems, e.g. U 520 with NiCrAlY coating at 750° C.

U-4C-3CR versus U-5C-4CR and stereochemical outcomes using suitable bicyclic β-amino acid derivatives as bifunctional components in the Ugi reaction

Intramolecular Ugi reactions with bicyclic β-amino acids have been performed and the effects of the configuration and N-alkylation have been studied. We have proven that preferential ring contraction or nucleophilic attack by the solvent depend not only on the presence of N-alkylation but also on the relative disposition of the carboxyl group and the amine. Excellent results in terms of stereoselectivity have been obtained in the case of N-alkyl-3-exo-amino-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]-2-endo-carboxylic acids.     

Effect of the complex forming ion on the physicochemical characteristics of solvation of tetraphenylporphine complexes

The enthalpies of dissolution, transfer, and axial coordination for the Cd(II), Co(II), Mn(III), Fe(III), and Cr(III) complexes of tetraphenylporphine, H₂(TPP), in nonpolar (C₆H₆, CCl₄) and electron-donating solvents (DMF, DMSO, Py,c-C₅H₁₀NH) have been determined calorimetrically at 298.15 K. On the basis of thermogravimetrical data for the corresponding crystallosolvates the composition, thermal stability, and energy of intermolecular interaction of the metal-porphine complexes with pyridine have been calculated. Complexing in noncoordinating solvents brings about no radical change in the physicochemical characteristics of axial coordination which depend critically on the electron structure of the complex-forming metal.Translated fromfzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis of stable azomethine ylides by the rearrangement of 1,3-dipolar cycloadducts of 3,4-dihydroisoquinoline-2-oxides with DMAD

1-Aryl-6,7-dimethoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines were prepared according to a one-pot procedure involving the reaction of 2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-ethylamine with aromatic aldehydes in TFA at reflux. The tetrahydroisoquinolines were treated with H₂O₂-WO₄²⁻ in methanol at room temperature to give the corresponding 3,4-dihydroisoquinoline-2-oxides. Treatment of these cyclic nitrones with DMAD in toluene at room temperature gave the corresponding isoxazolo[3,2-a]isoquinolines. These compounds were heated in toluene at reflux to give the corresponding ylides in high yields (Method A). The effect of the substituents on the rate of the rearrangement of such compounds prompted us to discuss a new mechanism involving consecutive C-C bond heterolysis and 1,3-sigmatropic shift. A one-pot reaction involving the treatment of the nitrones with equimolar amounts of DMAD in refluxing toluene also gave the ylides (Method B). The structures of the prepared compounds were elucidated by spectral means and elemental analyses.     

Neighbouring group participation in formation of condensed azines. Formation of pyrazolo(3,4-b)pyrazines,isoxazolo(4,5-b)pyrazines and isothiazolo(5,4-b)pyridine

Pyrazine- and pyridinecarboxamidoximes with an amino, potentially tautomeric hydroxy or mercapto group inortho position could be transformed in the appropriate condensed azines. In this manner, representatives of pyrazolo(3,4-b)pyrazine, isoxazolo(4,5-b)pyrazine and isothiazolo(5,4-b)pyridine ring system were synthesized and some transformations investigated.Presented in part at the 8th International Congress of Heterocyclic Chemistry, Graz, 1981.     

Fermentation characteristics and the dynamic trend of chemical components during fermentation of Massa Medicata Fermentata

As a representative of traditionally fermented Chinese medicine, Massa Medicata Fermentata (MMF) shows the functions of invigorating the spleen and stomach and promoting digestion, which plays an important role in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. The fermentation mechanism and the key factors that affect the quality of MMF have not been revealed yet, which has become an urgent issue that limits its clinical application. This article aims to systematically and comprehensively reveal the transformation of physical properties and the dynamic trend of chemical components including substrate components, volatile components, and lactic acid as anaerobic fermentation product during MMF fermentation. Along with obvious hyphae growth observed for MMF, the weight of MMF decreased, and the moisture and temperature increased. Through the quantified 14 components from substrate, ferulic acid increased from 45.53 ± 6.94 to 141.89 ± 78.40 μg/g, while glycosides and phenolic acids declined except caffeic acid. Also, within the 66 volatile components analyzed, alcohols and acids increased, while aldehydes and ketones decreased. Lactic acid was not detected in the fermentation substrate, but an apparent increase in lactic acid content was observed along with the increased fermentation days, resulting in 2.54 ± 0.15 mg/g on day 8. Based on the tested components, the fermentation process of MMF was discriminated into three distinct stages by principal component analysis, and an optimal fermentation time of four days was proposed. The results of this study will be of great significance to clarify the characteristics of fermentation and conduce to improving quality standards of MMF.     

Liquid-liquid extraction of copper (I) and copper (II) as ion-paired complexes with acyclic 2-thienyl-containing polythioether and triphenylmethane dye anion

Three acyclic polythioethers containing 2-thienyl units at both ends were synthesized and the effect of substituent on the extraction of copper(II) was studied. The methyl groups in the terminal thiophene ring have imparted an appreciable degree of increase in the percent extraction of copper(II), while the introduction of chlorine atoms into the 2-thienyl unit resulted in the reverse effect. Among the counter dye anions examined, tetrabromophenolphthalein ethylester was the best one for copper(II) extraction. The composition of extracted species was evaluated to be 122 (Cu(II)/polythioether/dye anion). Quantitative extraction of copper(I) was attained as complexes with various triphenylmethane dyes, i.e., bromocresol green, bromothymol blue, bromo-phenol blue and pyrogallol red. Copper(I) in organic phase was completely back-extracted with 2 mole/l sulfuric acid containing 10% hydrogen peroxide.     

The preparation of thick-film glass capillary columns

A detailed method for the routine preparation of glass capillary columns is presented. The method consists of coating a glass tube with quartz powder prior to pulling the tube into a capillary. The inner surface of the capillary consists of an even distribution of quartz particles fused to the walls. This surface has been found readily deactivated by standard procedures and ideal for the preparation of thick-film glass capillary columns. The method has been thoroughly tested in two independent laboratories to ensure that the procedures described are reproducible.
