Rigidity of quasi-isometries for some hyperbolic buildings

Every compact group arises as the outer automorphism group of a II1 factor

We show that any compact group can be realized as the outer automorphism group of a factor of type II₁. This has been proved in the abelian case by Ioana, Peterson and Popa [A. Ioana, J. Peterson, S. Popa, Amalgamated free products of w-rigid factors and calculation of their symmetry group, math.OA/0505589, Acta Math., in press] applying Popa's deformation/rigidity techniques to amalgamated free product von Neumann algebras. Our methods are a generalization of theirs.     

An optimized protocol for the multigram synthesis of 3-(trifluoromethyl)bicyclo[1.1.1]pent-1-ylglycine (CF3-Bpg)

An optimized procedure for the multigram synthesis of 3-(trifluoromethyl)bicyclo[1.1.1]pent-1-ylglycine (CF₃-Bpg) has been developed. The overall yield of the synthesis for the optimized up-scaling was increased from 35% to 53%. Moreover, conditions for separating the key isomeric aminonitriles 7 and 8 by crystallization were found, which greatly facilitated the isolation of 8 on a multigram scale. Following this optimized protocol, 100 g of optically pure CF₃-Bpg have been synthesized.

Geometric and topological rigidity for compact submanifolds of odd dimension

We investigate rigidity problems for odd-dimensional compact submanifolds.We show that if Mn(n 5)is an odd-dimensional compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in Sn+p,and if RicM(n-2-1n)(1+H2)and Hδn,whereδn is an explicit positive constant depending only on n,then M is a totally umbilical sphere.Here H is the mean curvature of M.Moreover,we prove that if Mn(n 5)is an odd-dimensional compact submanifold in the space form Fn+p(c)with c 0,and if RicM(n-2-εn)(c+H2),whereεn is an explicit positive constant depending only on n,then M is homeomorphic to a sphere.     

Coarse equivalences of Euclidean buildings

We prove the following rigidity results. Coarse equivalences between metrically complete Euclidean buildings preserve spherical buildings at infinity. If all irreducible factors have dimension at least two, then coarsely equivalent Euclidean buildings are isometric (up to scaling factors); if in addition none of the irreducible factors is a Euclidean cone, then the isometry is unique and has finite distance from the coarse equivalence.

作为非齐次结合经典Yang-Baxter 方程的代数抽象,带权无穷小双代数在数学和数学物理领域扮演着重要的角色. 本文引入了带权无穷小Hopf模的概念,证明了带权拟三角无穷小单位双代数上的任意模都有一个自然的带权无穷小单位Hopf模结构.利用一种新的方式装饰平面根森林, 并证明根森林的空间,连同它上边的余乘和一组嫁接算子是集合上权为零的自由多重1-余圈无穷小单位双代数. 给出了余乘的一个组合解释.作为应用, 得到了未装饰的平面根森林上的余圈无穷小单位双代数范畴中的初始对象,它也是(非交换)Connes-Kreimer-Hopf代数中的研究对象. 最后,分别从任意带权无穷小双代数和带权交换无穷小双代数导出了两个预李代数,其中第二个构造推广了Novikov 代数上的Gelfand-Dorfman定理.
