Optimal persistent disturbance attenuation control for linear hybrid systems

In this paper, the disturbance attenuation properties for a class of linear hybrid systems are investigated, and a hybrid optimal persistent disturbance attenuation control problem is studied. First, a procedure is developed to determine the minimal l^∞$l^{\infty }$ induced gain of linear hybrid systems. However, for general hybrid systems, the termination of the procedure is not guaranteed. Then, the decidability issues are discussed. The termination of the procedure in a finite number of steps is shown for a subclass of hybrid systems with simplified discrete event dynamics, called switched linear systems. Finally, the optimal persistent disturbance attenuation controller synthesis problem is studied. It is shown that the optimal performance level can be achieved by a piecewise linear state feedback control law, and a systematic approach is proposed to design such feedback control.

The Validity Range of Two Complex Analysis Theorems

In this article we give complete characterizations of shift-invariant uniform algebras A_S on compact abelian groups, in which two of the classical theorems for analytic functions hold, namely, Radó's theorem for analytic extension and Riemann's theorem for removable singularities. Our characterization is in terms of algebraical properties of the semigroup S of non-zero Fourier coefficients of the functions in A_S .     

Optimality conditions and duality models for generalized fractional programming problems containing locally subdifferentiable and ρ:-convex functions

Both parametric and nonparametric necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are established for a class of nonsmooth generalized fractional programming problems containing ρ-convex functions. Subsequently, these optimality criteria are utilized as a basis for constructing two parametric and four parameter-free duality models and proving appropriate duality theorems. Several classes of generalized fractional programming problems, including those with arbitrary norms, square roots of positive semidefinite quadratic forms, support functions, continuous max functions, and discrete max functions, which can be viewed as special cases of the main problem are briefly discussed. The optimality and duality results developed here also contain, as special cases, similar results for nonsmooth problems with fractional, discrete max, and conventional objective functions which are particular cases of the main problem considered in this paper     

Analysis of voltages induced on power outlets due to atmospheric discharges on Radio Base Stations

For the first time, full-wave simulations regarding voltages induced on power outlets installed inside buildings, due to lightning strokes on a Radio Base Station located nearby, are performed. The scenario consists of nine buildings with outlets connected to low-voltage distribution lines, conductive ground, a Radio Base Station and grounding systems. Loads connected to the power outlets are also considered. This scenario was modeled with a computer software developed in this work that can numerically represent/model real-world complex structures with realistic parameters. In order to obtain realistic results, Maxwell’s equations are solved numerically by using the FDTD method, which generates full-wave solutions of the problems. Here, electrical conductors are represented with the aid of a thin-wire technique. The analyzed domain is truncated by using the UPML formulation. In order to deal with large tridimensional numerical models, a Beowulf cluster with 16 CPUs is used to accelerate the calculation process. The induced voltages at the energy sockets inside the buildings have been calculated initially without an electric grounding mesh connected to them. In a second moment, the calculation of these induced voltages has been performed for the same structure with a grounding mesh connected to it. In a third simulation, electric loads with resistive–inductive characteristics have been added to the scenario (connected to the energy sockets), simulating residential equipment.

Parameter dependence of solutions of differential equations on spaces of distributions and the splitting of short exact sequences

We show that a linear partial differential operator with constant coefficients P(D) is surjective on the space of E-valued (ultra-)distributions over an arbitrary convex set if E^′ is a nuclear Fréchet space with property (DN). In particular, this holds if E is isomorphic to the space of tempered distributions S^′ or to the space of germs of holomorphic functions over a one-point set H({0}). This result has an interpretation in terms of solving the scalar equation P(D)u=f such that the solution u depends on parameter whenever the right-hand side f also depends on the parameter in the same way. A suitable analogue for surjective convolution operators over is obtained as well. To get the above results we develop a splitting theory for short exact sequences of the form
