An unusually high mobility of atoms under intensive impulse reactions is explained by the behavior of point defects at the shock wave front. A free-piston driver that employs entropy-raising shock processes with diaphragm rupture has been constructed, which promises
significant theoretical advantages over isentropic compression. Results from a range of conditions with helium and argon driver
gases are reported. Significant performance gains were achieved in some test cases. Heat losses are shown to have a strong
effect on driver processes. Measurements compare well with predictions from a quasi-one-dimensional numerical code.

By employing the Lyapunov functions and Razumikhin technique, some stability results are obtained for pantograph equations with impulses. In this paper, we consider an impulsive delay Logistic model. First by mathematical analysis, we obtain the maximum and minimum values of solutions of the corresponding autonomous Logistic model. Then by applying the comparison theorem and constructing some suitable Lyapunov functionals, we discuss the permanence and the global attractivity of the model, based on the boundedness of solutions of the corresponding autonomous Logistic model. The theoretical basis of a Gaussian-like approximate solution was applied to a chromatographic impulse response technique with curve fitting for measuring binary diffusion coefficients and retention factors using a polymer-coated capillary column. The formulae were derived for evaluating both the accuracy of the approximate solution and the sensitivity of the parameters. The validity of the solution also was confirmed experimentally for pulse injection of phenol in acetone into supercritical carbon dioxide flowing at 313.15 K and 11.6-28.6 MPa.
