Mass transport in metals under intensive impulse reactions

An unusually high mobility of atoms under intensive impulse reactions is explained by the behavior of point defects at the shock wave front. It is shown that either a shock wave front or moving dislocations can capture the interstitials, or they can be thermally activated in the direction of the shock wave propagation.     

A compact shock-assisted free-piston driver for impulse facilities

A free-piston driver that employs entropy-raising shock processes with diaphragm rupture has been constructed, which promises significant theoretical advantages over isentropic compression. Results from a range of conditions with helium and argon driver gases are reported. Significant performance gains were achieved in some test cases. Heat losses are shown to have a strong effect on driver processes. Measurements compare well with predictions from a quasi-one-dimensional numerical code. This paper deals with the oscillation problems of delay hyperbolic systems with impulses. Some sufficient conditions for oscillations of impulsive delay hyperbolic systems with Robin boundary conditions are obtained and the criteria of oscillation of the systems are established.

Stability results for impulsive pantograph equations

By employing the Lyapunov functions and Razumikhin technique, some stability results are obtained for pantograph equations with impulses. Our results reveal the fact that certain impulses may make an unstable system stable and that the stability of pantograph equations may also be inherited by impulsive pantograph ones under appropriate impulsive perturbations.     

Permanence and global attractivity of an impulsive delay Logistic model

In this paper, we consider an impulsive delay Logistic model. First by mathematical analysis, we obtain the maximum and minimum values of solutions of the corresponding autonomous Logistic model. Then by applying the comparison theorem and constructing some suitable Lyapunov functionals, we discuss the permanence and the global attractivity of the model, based on the boundedness of solutions of the corresponding autonomous Logistic model. An example together with its numerical simulation is given to verify our main result.     

Chromatographic impulse response technique with curve fitting to measure binary diffusion coefficients and retention factors using polymer-coated capillary columns

The theoretical basis of a Gaussian-like approximate solution was applied to a chromatographic impulse response technique with curve fitting for measuring binary diffusion coefficients and retention factors using a polymer-coated capillary column. The formulae were derived for evaluating both the accuracy of the approximate solution and the sensitivity of the parameters. The validity of the solution also was confirmed experimentally for pulse injection of phenol in acetone into supercritical carbon dioxide flowing at 313.15 K and 11.6-28.6 MPa. Potential sources for experimental errors of the method are discussed.
