In this paper numerical solutions of mixed hyperbolic problems are computed using a discrete eigenfunctions method combined with an implicit difference scheme. This new numerical technique preserves the qualitative properties of the analytic solution due to the Sturm-Liouville structure of the underlying discrete linear boundary-value problem and has computational stability advantages vs other methods. It is shown that every non-compact hyperbolic manifold of finite volume has a finite cover admitting a geodesic ideal triangulation. Also, every hyperbolic manifold of finite volume with non-empty, totally geodesic boundary has a finite regular cover which has a geodesic partially truncated triangulation. The proofs use an extension of a result due to Long and Niblo concerning the separability of peripheral subgroups.

Finite element analysis, applied to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) problem classes, presents a formal procedure for establishing the ingredients of a discrete approximation numerical solution algorithm. A classical Galerkin weak-statement formulation, formed on a Taylor series extension of the conservation law system, is developed herein that embeds a set of parameters eligible for constraint according to specification of suitable norms. The derived family of Taylor weak statements is shown to contain, as special cases, over one dozen independently derived CFD algorithms published over the past several decades for the high speed flow problem class. A theoretical analysis is completed that facilitates direct qualitative comparisons. Numerical results for definitive linear and non-linear test problems permit direct quantitative performance comparisons.  相似文献

We develop a new hierarchical reconstruction (HR) method  and  for limiting solutions of the discontinuous Galerkin and finite volume methods up to fourth order of accuracy without local characteristic decomposition for solving hyperbolic nonlinear conservation laws on triangular meshes. The new HR utilizes a set of point values when evaluating polynomials and remainders on neighboring cells, extending the technique introduced in Hu, Li and Tang [9]. The point-wise HR simplifies the implementation of the previous HR method which requires integration over neighboring cells and makes HR easier to extend to arbitrary meshes. We prove that the new point-wise HR method keeps the order of accuracy of the approximation polynomials. Numerical computations for scalar and system of nonlinear hyperbolic equations are performed on two-dimensional triangular meshes. We demonstrate that the new hierarchical reconstruction generates essentially non-oscillatory solutions for schemes up to fourth order on triangular meshes.  相似文献

We study a family of generalized slope limiters in two dimensions for Runge–Kutta discontinuous Galerkin (RKDG) solutions of advection-diffusion systems. We analyze the numerical behavior of these limiters applied to a pair of model problems, comparing the error of the approximate solutions, and discuss each limiter’s advantages and disadvantages. We then introduce a series of coupled p-enrichment schemes that may be used as standalone dynamic p-enrichment strategies, or may be augmented via any in the family of variable-in-p slope limiters presented.  相似文献

We show that a hyperbolic chaos can be observed in resonantly coupled oscillators near a Hopf bifurcation, described by normal-form-type equations for complex amplitudes. The simplest example consists of four oscillators, comprising two alternatively activated, due to an external periodic modulation, pairs. In terms of the stroboscopic Poincaré map, the phase differences change according to an expanding Bernoulli map that depends on the coupling type. Several examples of hyperbolic chaos for different types of coupling are illustrated numerically.  相似文献

Popp and Yan [F.A. Popp, Y. Yan, Phys. Lett. A 293 (2002) 93] proposed a model for delayed luminescence based on a single time-dependent coherent state. We show that the general solution of their model corresponds to a luminescence that is a linear function of time. Therefore, their model is not compatible with experimental delayed luminescence. Moreover, the functions that they use to describe the oscillatory behaviour of delayed luminescence are not solutions of the coupling equations to be solved.  相似文献

In this note we show how to include low order terms in the CC well-posedness results for weakly hyperbolic equations with analytic time-dependent coefficients. This is achieved by doing a different reduction to a system from the previously used one. We find the Levi conditions such that the CC well-posedness continues to hold.  相似文献
