MSE's of prediction in growth curve model with covariance structures

We consider the growth curve model with covariance structures: positive-definite, uniform covariance structure and serial covariance structure. Two types of prediction problems are studied in this paper. One is called the conditional prediction problem and the other is called the extended prediction problem. For both types of prediction problems, the mean squared error for a serial covariance structure is obtained for the estimates based on the conditional expectation: the mean squared error for an unrestricted covariance structure is compared with the mean squared error for a uniform covariance structure or a serial covariance structure. The paper discusses the relationship between weights and control vertices of two rational NURBS curves of degree two or three with all weights larger than zero when they represent the same curve parametrically and geometrically, and gives sufficient and necessary conditions for coincidence of two rational NURBS curves in non-degeneracy case.     

The Selmer Groups of Elliptic Curves

Let E/K be an elliptic curve with K-rational p-torsion points.The p-Selmer group of E is described by the image of a map λk and hence an upper bound of its order is given in terms of the class numbers of the S-ideal class group of K and the p-division field of E.     

Piecewise quadratic trigonometric polynomial curves

Analogous to the quadratic B-spline curve, a piecewise quadratic trigonometric polynomial curve is presented in this paper. The quadratic trigonometric polynomial curve has continuity, while the quadratic B-spline curve has continuity. The quadratic trigonometric polynomial curve is closer to the given control polygon than the quadratic B-spline curve.

     

On Selfsimilar Jordan Curves on the Plane

We study the attractors of a finite system of planar contraction similarities S _j (j=1,...,n) satisfying the coupling condition: for a set {x ₀,...,x _n} of points and a binary vector (s ₁,...,s _n ), called the signature, the mapping S _j takes the pair {x ₀,x _n} either into the pair {x _j-1,x _j } (if s _j =0) or into the pair {x _j , x _j-1} (if s _j =1). We describe the situations in which the Jordan property of such attractor implies that the attractor has bounded turning, i.e., is a quasiconformal image of an interval of the real axis.
