C-Series Discrete Chains

Existence of extremal metrics on almost homogeneous manifolds of cohomogeneity one —IV

This paper is the first of a series of papers in which we generalize our results in (Asian J. of Math. 4, 817–830 (2000); J. Geom. Anal. 12, 63–79 (2002); Intern. J. Math. 14, 259–287 (2003)) to the general complex compact almost homogeneous manifolds of real cohomogeneity one. In this paper we deal with the exceptional case of the G ₂ action (Cf. Intern. J. Math. 14, 259–287 (2003), p. 285). In particular, we prove the existence of Kähler-Einstein metric on this manifold.     

The Poincaré Series of Relative Invariants of Finite Pseudo-Reflection Groups

Let F be a field with characteristic 0,V=F~n the n-dimensional vector space over F and let G be a finite pseudo-reflection group which acts on V.Let χ:G→F~* be a 1-dimensional representation of G.In this article we show that X(g)=(detg)~α(0≤α≤r-1),where g∈G and r is the order of g.In addition,we characterize the relation between the relative invariants and the invariants of the group G,and then we use Molien's Theorem of invariants to compute the Poincaré series of relative invariants.

Unified description of nonclassical uniaxial ferroelectric materials in order–disorder phase transitions

An equation of state accounting for coupling of the primary order parameter (here the polarization) with a secondary order parameter (here a strain ?) is used to describe the temperature dependences of the spontaneous polarization and of the electric susceptibility on external biasing field. A new scaling invariant and its explicit expression are given. The theory is exemplified by the effective critical behavior of the molecular ferroelectric crystals (CH₃NH₃)₅Bi₂Cl₁₁ (MAPCB) and (CH₃NH₃)₅Bi₂Br₁₁ (MAPBB).     

The connected partition lattice of a graph and the reconstruction conjecture

Previously we showed that many invariants of a graph can be computed from its abstract induced subgraph poset, which is the isomorphism class of the induced subgraph poset, suitably weighted by subgraph counting numbers. In this paper, we study the abstract bond lattice of a graph, which is the isomorphism class of the lattice of distinct unlabelled connected partitions of a graph, suitably weighted by subgraph counting numbers. We show that these two abstract posets can be constructed from each other except in a few trivial cases. The constructions rely on certain generalisations of a lemma of Kocay in graph reconstruction theory to abstract induced subgraph posets. As a corollary, trees are reconstructible from their abstract bond lattice. We show that the chromatic symmetric function and the symmetric Tutte polynomial of a graph can be computed from its abstract induced subgraph poset. Stanley has asked if every tree is determined up to isomorphism by its chromatic symmetric function. We prove a counting lemma, and indicate future directions for a study of Stanley's question.
