ABSTRACTIn studies on instabilities of flowfield in rotating detonation, one of the most common concerns is the instability at the slip line originating from the conjunction of the detonation wave and oblique shock. Using Euler equations associated with the 7-species-and-8-reaction finite-rate chemical reaction model of hydrogen/air mixtures, further studies are performed to simulate the 2-D rotating detonation, and the flow mechanism of instability at the slip line is investigated in depth. The results show that the distinct wake profile exists at the slip line, which is different from the typical mixing layer. Analysis indicates that the generation of wake is caused by the transition shock between the detonation wave and oblique shock. Because of the wake profile, the vorticity distribution therein appears in a double-layer layout, and different evolutions exist in different vorticity layers. Based on the velocity profile across the slip line, the analysis by the linear stability theory is made, and two main unstable modes which have different shape profiles and phase velocities are found. Discrete Fourier transformation is utilised to analyse the numerical results, and similar shape profiles are obtained. A general coincidence in velocity of vortex movement is also attained between the theoretical predictions and simulations. Investigations show that the wake instability is responsible for the unstable mechanism, and corresponding unstable structures differ from the canonical ones in typical mixing layers. 相似文献

A waveguide occupies infinite strip with one or several narrows on a two-dimensional (2D) plane and is governed by the Helmholtz equation with Dirichlet boundary condition. On the waveguide continuous spectrum, which coincides with a half-axis, a scattering matrix is defined. At each point of the continuous spectrum this matrix has finite size, which changes at thresholds. The thresholds form a sequence of positive numbers increasing to infinity. Approximate calculation of the scattering matrix in a threshold vicinity requires special treatment. A boundary integral method is developed for the mixed boundary value problem for the vector Helmholtz equation in R3. The obtained boundary integral equations for the unknown Cauchy data build a strong elliptic system of pseudodifferential equations which can therefore be used for numerical computations using Galerkin's procedure. We show existence, uniqueness and regularity of the solution of the integral equations. We prove in this paper an existence result for frequency modes coupling seismic waves and vibrating tall buildings. The derivation from physical principles of a set of equations modeling this phenomenon was done in previous studies. In this model all vibrations are assumed to be anti-plane and time harmonic so the two dimensional Helmholtz equation can be used. A coupling frequency mode is obtained once we can determine a wavenumber such that the solution of the corresponding Helmholtz equation in the lower half plane with relevant Neumann and Dirichlet conditions at the interface satisfies a specific integral equation at the base of an idealized tall building. Although numerical simulations suggest that such wavenumbers should exist, as far as we know, to date, there is no theoretical proof of their existence. In thermoacoustic scattering the scattered field consists of a propagating acoustic wave together with a non-propagational “thermal” wave of much shorter wavelength. Although the scattered field may be obtained from a Rayleigh expansion, in cases where the particle radius is small compared with the acoustic wave length, these solutions are ill-conditioned. For this reason asymptotic or perturbation solutions are sought. In many situations the radius of the scatter is comparable to the length of the thermal wave. By exploiting the non-propagational character of the thermal field we obtain an asymptotic solution for long acoustic waves that is valid over a wide range of thermal wavelengths, on both sides of the thermal resonance condition. We show that this solution gives excellent agreement with both the full solution of the coupled Helmholtz equations and experimental measurements. This treatment provides a bridge between perturbation theory approximations in the long wavelength limit and high frequency solutions to the thermal field employing the geometric theory of diffraction. 相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the use of ultra weak variational formulation to solve a wave scattering problem in near field optics. In order to capture the sub-scale features of waves, we utilize evanescent wave functions together with plane wave functions to approximate the local properties of the field.
