We consider a modulated process S which, conditional on a background process X, has independent increments. Assuming that S drifts to −∞ and that its increments (jumps) are heavy-tailed (in a sense made precise in the paper), we exhibit natural
conditions under which the asymptotics of the tail distribution of the overall maximum of S can be computed. We present results in discrete and in continuous time. In particular, in the absence of modulation, the
process S in continuous time reduces to a Lévy process with heavy-tailed Lévy measure. A central point of the paper is that we make
full use of the so-called “principle of a single big jump” in order to obtain both upper and lower bounds. Thus, the proofs

Particle production in Au+Au collisions has been measured in the PHOBOS experiment at RHIC for a range of collision energies
for a large span of pseudorapidities, |η| < 5.4. Three empirical observations have emerged from this data set which require
theoretical examination. First, there is clear evidence of limiting fragmentation. Namely, particle production in central
Au + Au collisions, when expressed as dN/dη′ ( η′ ≡ – ybeam), becomes energy independent at high energy for a broad region of η′ around η′ = 0. This energy-independent region grows
with energy, allowing only a limited region (if any) of longitudinal boost-invariance. Second, there is a striking similarity
between particle production in e+e−and Au + Au collisions (scaled by the number of participating nucleon pairs). Both the total number of produced particles
and the longitudinal distribution of produced particles are approximately the same in e+e−and in scaled Au + Au. This observation This presentation is based in large part on the PHOBOS summary talk by M Baker at

SiGe/Si quantum wells (QWs) with different Boron doping concentrations were grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) on p-type Si(1 0 0) substrate. The activation energies of the heavily holes in ground states of QWs, which correspond to the energy differences between the heavy hole ground states and Si valence band, were measured by admittance spectroscopy. It is found that the activation energy in a heavily doped QW increases with doping concentration, which can be understood by the band alignment changes due to the doping in the QWs. Also, it is found that the activation energy in a QW with a doping concentration of 2 × 1020 cm−3 becomes larger after annealing at a temperature of 685 °C, which is attributed to more Boron atoms activation in the QW by annealing. 相似文献

The results of variational solutions of the repeated ring and self-consistent repeated ring equations for the two-and three-dimensional overlapping Lorentz gas (LG), as formulated in a previous report, are presented. Calculations of the full velocity correlation function (VCF) for the 2D LG, including long-time tails, are compared with those from molecular dynamics. The trial functions chosen lead to predictions for the long-time tails that improve as the density of the scatterers is increased. At a value of 0.24 for* (=
2, where is the density and the radius of scatterers), the self-consistent amplitudes of the long-time tail are within 40% of the molecular dynamics. Boron‐doped Diamond (BDD) electrode has become one of the important tools for heavy metal detection. By studying some analytical parameters of DPASV method, like deposition time and potential in different electrolyte concentrations (acetate buffer), the conditions for detecting very low metal ion levels (Zn, Cd, Pb, and Cu) could be chosen. Diluted electrolyte (0.01 M buffer) was one of the factors favoring low detection and quantification limits, but its quantification range is short in comparison to more concentrated media. For ?1.7 V deposition potential, the detection of single metal at ppb levels was reached in 60 s deposition time. Understanding different metal‐metal interactions shows the limits to the simultaneous determination of heavy metals at BDD. Quantification was possible for the simultaneous determination of Zn, Cd and Pb despite the overlapping of Zn and Cd peaks. The performance of the BDD was compared with that of another C‐based solid electrode: the glassy carbon electrode (without mercury plating). A lower base line current, wider potential range, higher sensitivity (3 to 5 times higher than GC) and longevity of the material were noticed for the BDD. 相似文献

以桔子汁加工残渣为原料,制备钙型和氢型生物凝胶作为吸附剂,用于去除水溶液中的重金属离子.结果表明,上述凝胶在水溶液中稳定性较好,对重金属离子的吸附性能优良.钙型凝胶的吸附选择性顺序为:Fe3 >Pb2 >Cd2 >Zn2 ,饱和吸附容量分别为:Pb2 、Cd2 、Zn2 均为约1.1mmol/g、Fe3 为1.5mmol/g;氢型凝胶的吸附选择性顺序为:Pb2 >Zn2 >Cd2 .钙型凝胶对Fe3 的吸附行为明显不同于氢型凝胶,钙型凝胶以离子交换机理以及Fe3 与Ca2 之间的共沉淀作用为主;而氢型凝胶对Fe3 的吸附则以离子交换机理为主. 相似文献

Electrochemical study of barley grain lipid‐transfer protein (LTP) revealed that it may belong to the metal‐binding protein class. Using differential pulse polarography the presence of Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions in the native LTP structure was proved, as well as its affinity for binding Ni(II) ion. Application of a more sensitive electroanalytical technique, such as anodic stripping voltammetry with analyte preconcentration, revealed the presence of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions and also enabled the following Hg(II) ion binding. Possible biological role of LTP in plant stress response and its contribution to barley phytoextraction potential are discussed. 相似文献
