Representability of Analytic Functions in Terms of Their Boundary Values

Suppose that is an arbitrary finite complex Borel measure on the interval is its Poisson integral, and are the conjugate harmonics of , and is the nontangential limiting value of the analytic function as . In this paper, we consider the problem of representing the analytic function in terms of its boundary values .     

On products of unbounded operators

A symmetric operator X^ is attached to each operator X that leaves the domain of a given positive operator A invariant and makes the product AX symmetric. Some spectral properties of X^ are derived from those of X and, as a consequence, various conditions ensuring positivity of products of the form AX ₁ ... X _n are proved. The question of ^-complete positivity of the mapping p → Ap(X ₁,...,X _n) defined on complex polynomials in n variables is investigated. It is shown that the set ω is related to the McIntosh-Pryde joint spectrum of (X ₁,...,X _n) in case all the operators A, X ₁,...,X _n are bounded. Ergodic-theoretic properties of certain Bernoulli convolutions

The aim of this paper is to prove some fixed point theorems which generalize well known basic fixed point principles of nonlinear functional analysis. Moreover, we investigate the class of mappings f: X→ X, where X is a Banach space, for which one of the main conditions in the metric fixed point theory, namely the condition (1), is satisfied. We obtain essential applications of this fact. All our results are illustrated by suitable examples. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Signed Fuzzy-Valued Measures and Radon-Nikodym Theorem of Fuzzy-Valued Measurable Functions

Moderate Deviations and Large Deviations for Kernel Density Estimators

Let f _n be the non-parametric kernel density estimator based on a kernel function K and a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables taking values in ^d . It is proved that if the kernel function is an integrable function with bounded variation, and the common density function f of the random variables is continuous and f(x) 0 as |x| , then the moderate deviation principle and large deviation principle for hold.     

On the Patterson–Sullivan Measure for Geometrically Finite Groups Acting on Complex or Quaternionic Hyperbolic Space

The goal of this paper is to provide a tool, the Global Measure Formula, that will facilitate the study of the limit set of discrete geometrically finite groups of isometries of the rank one symmetric spaces. We consider the shadow of a ball from a fixed reference point onto the boundary, and prove a formula that describes the measure of the shadow in terms of the center of the shadowed ball, generalizing a result from real hyperbolic geometry.     

Weakly Outer Inner Functions

An inner function I in the unit ball B_nB_nⁿ is said to be weakly outer if the closed subspace I H ^p(B ⁿ) is weakly dense in the Hardy space H^p(B ⁿ), 0n for all n1. We also investigate inner functions I such that the subspace IH^p(B ⁿ) is not weakly dense in H^p(B ⁿ).     

Tangential Limits of Potentials on Homogeneous Trees

Let T be a homogeneous tree of homogeneity q+1. Let denote the boundary of T, consisting of all infinite geodesics b=[b ₀,b ₁,b ₂,] beginning at the root, 0. For each b, 1, and a0 we define the approach region _,a (b) to be the set of all vertices t such that, for some j, t is a descendant of b _j and the geodesic distance of t to b _j is at most (–1)j+a. If >1, we view these as tangential approach regions to b with degree of tangency . We consider potentials Gf on T for which the Riesz mass f satisfies the growth condition _T f ^p (t)q ^–|t|<, where p>1 and 0<<1, or p=1 and 0<1. For 11/, we show that Gf(s) has limit zero as s approaches a boundary point b within _,a (b) except for a subset E of of -dimensional Hausdorff measure 0, where H (E)=sup_>0inf _i q ^{–|t i|}:E a subset of the boundary points passing through t _i for some i,|t _i |>log _q (1/).     

Detecting Mass Points of Representing Measures

We discuss a possibility of deciding whether measures representing a moment sequence or realizing orthogonality of polynomials have atoms. This is done on the real line and in several variables.
