In the paper, Ding projective modules and Ding projective complexes are considered. In particular, it is proven that Ding projective complexes are precisely the complexes X for which each X_m is a Ding projective R-module for all m ∈ Z.

On the almost Gorenstein property of determinantal rings

In this paper, we investigate the question of when the determinantal ring R over a field k is an almost Gorenstein local/graded ring in the sense of [14 Goto, S., Takahashi, R., Taniguchi, N. (2015). Almost Gorenstein rings - towards a theory of higher dimension. J. Pure Appl. Algebra 219:2666–2712.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]]. As a consequence of the main result, we see that if R is a non-Gorenstein almost Gorenstein local/graded ring, then the ring R has a minimal multiplicity.     

The solution to the embedding problem of a (differential) Lie algebra into its Wronskian envelope

Any commutative algebra equipped with a derivation may be turned into a Lie algebra under the Wronskian bracket. This provides an entirely new sort of a universal envelope for a Lie algebra, the Wronskian envelope. The main result of this paper is the characterization of those Lie algebras which embed into their Wronskian envelope as Lie algebras of vector fields on a line. As a consequence we show that, in contrast to the classical situation, free Lie algebras almost never embed into their Wronskian envelope.     

Unimodal Gorenstein h-vectors without the Stanley–Iarrobino property

The study of the h-vectors of graded Gorenstein algebras is an important topic in combinatorial commutative algebra, which despite the large amount of literature produced during the last several years, still presents many interesting open questions. In this note, we commence a study of those unimodal Gorenstein h-vectors that do not satisfy the Stanley–Iarrobino property. Our main results, which are characteristic free, show that such h-vectors exist: 1) In socle degree e if and only if e≥6; and 2) in every codimension five or greater. The main case that remains open is that of codimension four, where no Gorenstein h-vector is known without the Stanley–Iarrobino property. We conclude by proposing the following very general conjecture: The existence of any arbitrary level h-vector is independent of the characteristic of the base field.     

On slightly P-coherent rings

A ring R is called left slightly P-coherent if C is P-injective, for every left R-module exact sequence 0→A→B→C→0 with A and B P-injective. The properties of slightly P-coherent rings and several examples are studied to show that left slightly P-coherent rings fall in between left P-coherent rings and left strongly P-coherent rings. In terms of some derived functors, some homological dimensions over these rings are investigated. As applications, some new characterizations of p.p.rings are given.     

Legendre-type optimality conditions for a variational problem with inequality state constraints

, they differ from the Legendre-Clebsch condition. They give information about the Hesse matrix of the integrand at not only inactive points but also active points. On the other hand, since the inequality state constraints can be regarded as an infinite number of inequality constraints, they sometimes form an envelope. According to a general theory [9], one has to take the envelope into consideration when one consider second-order necessary optimality conditions for an abstract optimization problem with a generalized inequality constraint. However, we show that we do not need to take it into account when we consider Legendre-type conditions. Finally, we show that any inequality state constraint forms envelopes except two trivial cases. Gorenstein space with nonzero evaluation map

Let be a differential graded algebra of finite type, if is a Gorenstein graded algebra, then so is . The purpose of this paper is to prove the converse under some mild hypotheses. We deduce a new characterization of Poincaré duality spaces as well as spaces with a nonzero evaluation map.
