Consider a system of particles which move in Rd according to a symmetric α-stable motion, have a lifetime distribution of finite mean, and branch with an offspring law of index 1+β. In case of the critical dimension d=α/β the phenomenon of multi-scale clustering occurs. This is expressed in an fdd scaling limit theorem, where initially we start
with an increasing localized population or with an increasing homogeneous Poissonian population. The limit state is uniform,
but its intensity varies in line with the scaling index according to a continuous-state branching process of index 1+β. Our result generalizes the case α=2 of Brownian particles of Klenke (1998), where p.d.e. methods had been used which are not available in the present setting.

We introduce the concept of the modular function for a shift-invariant subspace that can be represented by normalized tight frame generators for the shift-invariant subspace and prove that it is independent of the selections of the frame generators for the subspace. We shall apply it to study the connections between the dimension functions of wavelet frames for any expansive integer matrix and the multiplicity functions for general multiresolution analysis (GMRA). Given a frame mutiresolution analysis (FMRA), we show that the standard construction formula for orthonormal multiresolution analysis wavelets does not yield wavelet frames unless the underlying FMRA is an MRA. A modified explicit construction formula for FMRA wavelet frames is given in terms of the frame scaling functions and the low-pass filters.
Let be an algebraically closed field, and let be a finitely graded -algebra which is a domain. We show that cannot have Gelfand-Kirillov dimension strictly between and .
We provide general criteria for energy measures of regular Dirichlet forms on self-similar sets to be singular to Bernoulli type measures. In particular, every energy measure is proved to be singular to the Hausdorff measure for canonical Dirichlet forms on 2-dimensional Sierpinski carpets.Partially supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Grant-in-Aid for Encouragement of Young Scientists, 15740089.Mathematics Subject Classification (2000): 28A80 (60G30, 31C25, 60J60) 相似文献
The static potential for a massless scalar field shares the essential features of the scalar gravitational mode in a tensorial
perturbation analysis about the background solution. Using the fluxbrane construction of [8] we calculate the lowest order
of the static potential of a massless scalar field on a thin brane using series solutions to the scalar field's Klein Gordon
equation and we find that it has the same form as Newton's Law of Gravity. We claim our method will in general provide a quick
and useful check that one may use to see if their model will recover Newton's Law to lowest order on the brane. 相似文献

We shall prove a type of Mardesic factorization theorem for extension theory over an arbitrary stratum of CW-complexes in the class of arbitrary compact Hausdorff spaces. Our result provides that the space through which the factorization occurs will have the same strong countability property (e.g., strong countable dimension) as the original one had. Taking into consideration the class of compact Hausdorff spaces, this result extends all previous ones of its type. Our factorization theorem will simultaneously include factorization for weak infinite-dimensionality and for Property C, that is, for C-spaces.
A corollary to our result will be that for any weight and any finitely homotopy dominated CW-complex , there exists a Hausdorff compactum with weight and which is universal for the property and weight . The condition means that for every closed subset of and every map , there exists a map which is an extension of . The universality means that for every compact Hausdorff space whose weight is and for which is true, there is an embedding of into .
We shall show, on the other hand, that there exists a CW-complex which is not finitely homotopy dominated but which has the property that for each weight , there exists a Hausdorff compactum which is universal for the property and weight .
For any , there is a compact set of (Hausdorff) dimension whose dimension cannot be lowered by any quasiconformal map . We conjecture that no such set exists in the case . More generally, we identify a broad class of metric spaces whose Hausdorff dimension is minimal among quasisymmetric images.
