Fuzzy stochastic goal programming problems

In this paper, we present a model to measure attainment value of fuzzy stochastic goals. Then, the new measure is used to de-randomize and de-fuzzify the fuzzy stochastic goal programming problem and obtain a standard linear program (LP). A numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed method.

Load distribution control system design for a semi-track air-cushion vehicle

This paper describes the design principle for a semi-track air-cushion vehicle working on soft terrain. A novel structure, i.e., a flexible joint mechanism is designed for the semi-track air-cushion vehicle suspension system. Focusing on optimizing the total power consumption of the vehicle, three main issues were studied in this paper. First, a theoretical model for minimizing the total power demand of the vehicle is developed. The effects of load distribution on total rolling resistance and total power requirement are calculated which are compared with the prototype experiment data. Second, the optimization procedure is presented. Third, a control scheme is proposed to minimize the power consumption by using a self-tuning PID fuzzy controller and the feasibility was examined by the simulations performed in Matlab/Simulink software environment.     

Two new models for portfolio selection with stochastic returns taking fuzzy information

This paper proposes two new models for portfolio selection in which the security returns are stochastic variables with fuzzy information. A hybrid intelligent algorithm is designed to solve the optimization problem which is otherwise hard to solve with the existing algorithms due to the complexity of the return variables. To illustrate the modelling idea and to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, two numerical examples are provided.     

The fuzzy intersection rule in variational analysis with applications

The fuzzy intersection rule for Fréchet normal cones in Asplund spaces was established by Mordukhovich and the author using the extremal principle, which appears more convenient to apply in some applications. In this paper, we present a complete discussion of this rule in various aspects. We show that the fuzzy intersection rule is another characterization of the Asplund property of the space. Various applications are considered as well. In particular, a complete set of fuzzy calculus rules for general lower semicontinuous functions are established.     

Hybrid fuzzy logic control of laser surface heat treatments

This paper presents an advanced hybrid fuzzy logic control system for laser surface heat treatments, which allows to increase significantly the uniformity and final quality of the obtained product, reducing the rejection rate and increasing the productivity and efficiency of the treatment. Basically, the proposed hybrid control structure combines a fuzzy logic controller, with a pure integral action, both fully decoupled, improving the performances of the process with a reasonable design cost, since the system nonlinearities are fully compensated by the fuzzy component of the controller, while the integral action contributes to eliminate the steady-state error.     

Modeling holistic fuzzy implication using co-copulas

Two related aggregation operators called copulas and co-copulas are introduced and various properties are described. The relationship, of these operators to t-norms and t-conorms is noted. Generalizations of these, respectively, called conjunctors and disjunctors, are introduced. We suggest the use of disjunctor operators for modeling the multi-valued implication operator in fuzzy logic. We point out that the selection of operators used in fuzzy logic, in addition to having appropriate pointwise properties, should be holistic, this requires consideration of the nature of the resulting fuzzy set as a whole. Focusing on the protoform of fuzzy modus ponens and looking at the information contained in the inferred fuzzy set we show that the use of co-copulas has some desirable properties. Taking advantage of the fact that the weighted sum of co-copulas is a co-copula we consider the problem of constructing customized implication operators.
