We indicate some errors made in Buckley's paper on fuzzy programming and the Pareto optimal set [1].     

Load distribution control system design for a semi-track air-cushion vehicle

This paper describes the design principle for a semi-track air-cushion vehicle working on soft terrain. A novel structure, i.e., a flexible joint mechanism is designed for the semi-track air-cushion vehicle suspension system. Focusing on optimizing the total power consumption of the vehicle, three main issues were studied in this paper. First, a theoretical model for minimizing the total power demand of the vehicle is developed. The effects of load distribution on total rolling resistance and total power requirement are calculated which are compared with the prototype experiment data. Second, the optimization procedure is presented. Third, a control scheme is proposed to minimize the power consumption by using a self-tuning PID fuzzy controller and the feasibility was examined by the simulations performed in Matlab/Simulink software environment.     

The fuzzy intersection rule in variational analysis with applications

The fuzzy intersection rule for Fréchet normal cones in Asplund spaces was established by Mordukhovich and the author using the extremal principle, which appears more convenient to apply in some applications. In this paper, we present a complete discussion of this rule in various aspects. We show that the fuzzy intersection rule is another characterization of the Asplund property of the space. Various applications are considered as well. In particular, a complete set of fuzzy calculus rules for general lower semicontinuous functions are established.     

Hybrid fuzzy logic control of laser surface heat treatments

This paper presents an advanced hybrid fuzzy logic control system for laser surface heat treatments, which allows to increase significantly the uniformity and final quality of the obtained product, reducing the rejection rate and increasing the productivity and efficiency of the treatment. Basically, the proposed hybrid control structure combines a fuzzy logic controller, with a pure integral action, both fully decoupled, improving the performances of the process with a reasonable design cost, since the system nonlinearities are fully compensated by the fuzzy component of the controller, while the integral action contributes to eliminate the steady-state error.     

The basis decision problem in λ-calculus

We show that the problem of deciding if a finite set of closed terms in normal form is a basis is recursively unsolvable. The restricted problem concerning one element sets is still recursively unsolvable. MSC: 03B40, 03D35.     

Generalization of domination structures and nondominated solutions in multicriteria decision making

The concepts of domination structures and nondominated solutions are important in tackling multicriteria decision problems. We relax Yu's requirement that the domination structure at each point of the criteria space be a convex cone (Ref. 1) and give results concerning the set of nondominated solutions for the case where the domination structure at each point is a convex set. A practical necessity for such a generalization is discussed. We also present conditions under which a locally nondominated solution is also a globally nondominated solution.
