The paper presents a technique for numerical analysis of the elastoplastic stress-strain state of flexible laminated shells of revolution made of isotropic and transversely isotropic materials and subjected to axisymmetric loading and heating. The technique is based on the Kirchhoff-Love hypotheses for the whole laminate. The deformation of the isotropic materials is described using the theory of deformation along paths of small curvature. The deformation of the transversely isotropic material is described using the flow theory with isotropic hardening. The process of loading is divided into steps at each of which the stress-strain state is determined by the method of successive approximations. A method is developed for analysis of the elastoplastic stress-strain state of laminated shells of revolution under axisymmetric loading. The shells are made of isotropic and transversally isotropic materials with different moduli. The stability and vibration of an elastic rod with a circular cross section under the constraint of a cylinder is discussed. The differential equations of dynamics of the constrained rod are established with Euler’s angles as variables describing the attitude of the cross section. The existence conditions of helical equilibrium under constraint are discussed as a special configuration of the rod. The stability of the helical equilibrium is discussed in the realms of statics and dynamics, respectively. Necessary conditions for the stability of helical rod are derived in space domain and time domain, and the difference and relationship between Lyapunov’s and Euler’s stability concepts are discussed. The free frequency of flexural vibration of the helical rod with cylinder constraint is obtained in analytical form. Cylindrical shells consisting of cylindrical panels of smaller radius and subjected to uniform external pressure are analyzed for stability. The geometrical parameters of the shells are approximated by Fourier series on a discrete set of points. The Timoshenko theory of shells is used. The solution is represented in the form of trigonometric series. It is shown that short-and medium-length shells with cylindrical panels are advantageous over circular shells. By selecting appropriate parameters of the panels, keeping the mass of the shell constant, it is possible to achieve a significant gain in critical loads. The shells under consideration are less effective than isotropic shells. This paper is concerned with investigation of the effects of strain-stiffening on the classical limit point instability that is well-known to occur in the inflation of internally pressurized rubber-like spherical thin shells (balloons) and circular cylindrical thin tubes composed of incompressible isotropic non-linearly elastic materials. For a variety of specific strain-energy densities that give rise to strain-stiffening in the stress-stretch response, the inflation pressure versus stretch relations are given explicitly and the non-monotonic character of the inflation curves is examined. While such results are known for constitutive models that exhibit a gradual stiffening (e.g. exponential and power-law models), our primary focus is on materials that undergo severe strain-stiffening in the stress-stretch response. In particular, we consider two phenomenological constitutive models that reflect limiting chain extensibility at the molecular level. It is shown that for materials with sufficiently low extensibility no limit point instability occurs and so stable inflation is then predicted for such materials. Potential applications of the results to the biomechanics of soft tissues are indicated.  相似文献

Non-linear vibrations of free-edge shallow spherical shells are investigated, in order to predict the trend of non-linearity (hardening/softening behaviour) for each mode of the shell, as a function of its geometry. The analog for thin shallow shells of von Kármán's theory for large deflection of plates is used. The main difficulty in predicting the trend of non-linearity relies in the truncation used for the analysis of the partial differential equations (PDEs) of motion. Here, non-linear normal modes through real normal form theory are used. This formalism allows deriving the analytical expression of the coefficient governing the trend of non-linearity. The variation of this coefficient with respect to the geometry of the shell (radius of curvature R, thickness h and outer diameter 2a) is then numerically computed, for axisymmetric as well as asymmetric modes. Plates (obtained as R→∞) are known to display a hardening behaviour, whereas shells generally behave in a softening way. The transition between these two types of non-linearity is clearly studied, and the specific role of 2:1 internal resonances in this process is clarified.  相似文献
