Summary Further properties are derived for a class of invariant polynomials with several matrix arguments which extend the zonal polynomials. Generalized Laguerre polynomials are defined, and used to obtain expansions of the sum of independent noncentral Wishart matrices and an associated generalized regression coefficient matrix. In this paper, extensions of several relations linking differences of bivariate discrete orthogonal polynomials and polynomials themselves are given, by using an appropriate vector–matrix notation. Three-term recurrence relations are presented for the partial differences of the monic polynomial solutions of admissible second order partial difference equation of hypergeometric type. Structure relations, difference representations as well as lowering and raising operators are obtained. Finally, expressions for all matrix coefficients appearing in these finite-type relations are explicitly presented for a finite set of Hahn and Kravchuk orthogonal polynomials.  相似文献

Some recent methods of Computer Aided Geometric Design are related to the apolar bilinear form, an inner product on the space of homogeneous multivariate polynomials of a fixed degree, already known in 19th century invariant theory. Using a generalized version of this inner product, we derive in a straightforward way some of the recent results in CAGD, like Marsden's identity, the expression for the de Boor-Fix functionals, and recursion schemes for the computation of B-patches and their derivatives.

In this paper, we give some conditions to assure that the equation P(X)=Q(Y) has no meromorphic solutions in all K, where P and Q are polynomials over an algebraically closed field K of characteristic zero, complete with respect to a non-Archimedean valuation. In particular, if P and Q satisfy the hypothesis (F) introduced by H. Fujimoto, a necessary and sufficient condition is obtained when deg P=deg Q. The results are presented in terms of parametrization of a projective curve by three entire functions. In this way we also obtain similar results for unbounded analytic functions inside an open disk.   相似文献

We study two types of dynamical extensions of Lucas sequences and give elliptic solutions for them. The first type concerns a level-dependent (or discrete time-dependent) version involving commuting variables. We show that a nice solution for this system is given by elliptic numbers. The second type involves a non-commutative version of Lucas sequences which defines the non-commutative (or abstract) Fibonacci polynomials introduced by Johann Cigler. If the non-commuting variables are specialized to be elliptic-commuting variables the abstract Fibonacci polynomials become non-commutative elliptic Fibonacci polynomials. Some properties we derive for these include their explicit expansion in terms of normalized monomials and a non-commutative elliptic Euler–Cassini identity.  相似文献

本文提出一类求解特征值问题的下三角预变换方法, 目标是通过相似变换后矩阵下三角元素平方和明显减少、且变换后的特征值及其特征向量较易求解, 使变换后的对角线可作为全体特征值很好的一组初值, 其作用如同对于解方程组找到好的预条件子, 加速迭代收敛. 以二阶PDE 数值计算为例,对于以Laplace 方程为代表的特征波向量组及正交多项式组有广泛的应用前景.

We present two continuous symmetry reduction methods for reducing high-dimensional dissipative flows to local return maps. In the Hilbert polynomial basis approach, the equivariant dynamics is rewritten in terms of invariant coordinates. In the method of moving frames (or method of slices) the state space is sliced locally in such a way that each group orbit of symmetry-equivalent points is represented by a single point. In either approach, numerical computations can be performed in the original state space representation, and the solutions are then projected onto the symmetry-reduced state space. The two methods are illustrated by reduction of the complex Lorenz system, a five-dimensional dissipative flow with rotational symmetry. While the Hilbert polynomial basis approach appears unfeasible for high-dimensional flows, symmetry reduction by the method of moving frames offers hope.  相似文献
