In this article, we obtain explicit solutions of a linear PDE subject to a class of radial square integrable functions with a monotonically increasing weight function |x|n−1eβ|x|2/2,|x|n1eβ|x|2/2,, β≥0, x ∈?nβ0,x?n. This linear PDE is obtained from a system of forced Burgers equation via the Cole-Hopf transformation. For any spatial dimension n > 1, the solution is expressed in terms of a family of weighted generalized Laguerre polynomials. We also discuss the large time behaviour of the solution of the system of forced Burgers equation.  相似文献

Vibration of non-uniform beams with different boundary conditions subjected to a moving mass is investigated. The beam is modeled using Euler–Bernoulli beam theory. Applying the method of eigenfunction expansion, equation of motion has been transformed into a number of coupled linear time-varying ordinary differential equations. In non-uniform beams, the exact vibration functions do not exist and in order to solve these equations using eigenfunction expansion method, an adequate set of functions must be selected as the assumed vibration modes. A set of polynomial functions called as beam characteristic polynomials, which is constructed by considering beam boundary conditions, have been used along with the vibration functions of the equivalent uniform beam with similar boundary conditions, as the assumed vibration functions. Orthogonal polynomials which are generated by utilizing a Gram–Schmidt process are also used, and results of their application show no advantage over the set of simple non-orthogonal polynomials. In the numerical examples, both natural frequencies and forced vibration of three different non-uniform beams with different shapes and boundary conditions are scrutinized.  相似文献

In this paper, the multi-variable Hermite matrix polynomials are introduced by algebraic decomposition of exponential operators. Their properties are established using operational methods. Extending a classical linear result due to Hutton to a nonlinear setting, we prove that a continuous homogeneous polynomial between Banach spaces can be approximated by finite rank polynomials if and only if its adjoint can be approximated by finite rank linear operators. Among other consequences, we apply this result to generalize a classical result due to Aron and Schottenloher about the approximation property on spaces of polynomials and a recent result due to Çaliskan and Rueda about the quasi-approximation property on projective symmetric tensor products.  相似文献

This paper addresses two different but related questions regarding an unbounded symmetric tridiagonal operator: its self-adjointness and the approximation of its spectrum by the eigenvalues of its finite truncations. The sufficient conditions given in both cases improve and generalize previously known results. It turns out that, not only self-adjointness helps to study limit points of eigenvalues of truncated operators, but the analysis of such limit points is a key help to prove self-adjointness. Several examples show the advantages of these new results compared with previous ones. Besides, an application to the theory of continued fractions is pointed out.  相似文献

This paper aims to contribute to the exploration of quadrature formulae by proving that the error of a quadrature formula has the Schur‐convexity property. The emphasis is on the quadrature formulae with the maximum degree of precision. The Schur‐convexity of the error has an interesting implication – the monotonicity of the error. Namely, it turns out that the absolute value of the error is always smaller on a smaller interval (of the two which share the same midpoint).  相似文献
