On the spectral representation of symmetric stable processes

The so-called spectral representation theorem for stable processes linearly imbeds each symmetric stable process of index p into L^p (0 < p ≤ 2). We use the theory of L^p isometries for 0 < p < 2 to study the uniqueness of this representation for the non-Gaussian stable processes. We also determine the form of this representation for stationary processes and for substable processes. Complex stable processes are defined, and a complex version of the spectral representation theorem is proved. As a corollary to the complex theory we exhibit an imbedding of complex L^q into real or complex L^p for 0 < p < q ≤ 2.     

On Cesari's property (Q)

In the present paper, we generalize, within the family of convex-valued multifunctions, a selection theorem of Cole (Ref. 1). This then leads us to prove some new results concerning Cesari's property (Q) and to the introduction of the Cesari limit of sets, which is then compared to the Kuratowski-Mosco limit.This work was done while the author was a visiting professor at the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy. Near-Subconvexlikeness in Vector Optimization with Set-Valued Functions

A new class of generalized convex set-valued functions, termed nearly-subconvexlike functions, is introduced. This class is a generalization of cone-subconvexlike maps, nearly-convexlike set-valued functions, and preinvex set-valued functions. Properties for the nearly-subconvexlike functions are derived and a theorem of the alternative is proved. A Lagrangian multiplier theorem is established and two scalarization theorems are obtained for vector optimization.     

Smooth diameter and eigenvalue rigidity in positive Ricci curvature

A recent injectivity radius estimate and previous sphere theorems yield the following smooth diameter sphere theorem for manifolds of positive Ricci curvature: For any given and there exists a positive constant 0$">such that any -dimensional complete Riemannian manifold with Ricci curvature , sectional curvature and diameter is Lipschitz close and diffeomorphic to the standard unit -sphere. A similar statement holds when the diameter is replaced by the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian.

Surface integral and Gauss-Ostrogradskij theorem from the viewpoint of applications

Making use of a surface integral defined without use of the partition of unity, trace theorems and the Gauss-Ostrogradskij theorem are proved in the case of three-dimensional domains with a Lipschitz-continuous boundary for functions belonging to the Sobolev spaces H ^1,p () (1 p < ). The paper is a generalization of the previous author's paper which is devoted to the line integral.     

Optimal shape design for systems governed by variational inequalities,part 1: Existence theory for the elliptic case

Some general existence results for optimal shape design problems for systems governed by elliptic variational inequalities are established by the mapping method and variational convergence theory. Then, an existence theorem is given for the optimal shape for an electrochemical machining problem, in which the cost functional is not lower semicontinuous, by extending the general results to this case. Furthermore, this problem is approximated by a set of optimal shape design problems which have more smooth cost functionals and are easier to handle computationally.The authors with to express their sincere thanks to the reviewers for supplying additional references and for their valuable comments, which made the paper more readable.     

Meir-Keeler Type Contractions for Tripled Fixed Points

In 2011, Berinde and Borcut [6] introduced the notion of tripled fixed point in partially ordered metric spaces. In our paper, we give some new tripled fixed point theorems by using a generalization of Meir-Keeler contraction.     

A non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition for a diffusion equation in petroleum engineering

This article deals with a boundary value problem for Laplace equation with a non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition. This problem comes from petroleum engineering and is used to obtain an estimation of well productivity. The non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition is written on the well boundary. On the outer reservoir boundaries, we have both Dirichlet and Neumann conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this problem. The existence is proved by Schauder theorem and the uniqueness is obtained under more restricted conditions, when the involved operator is a contraction. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
