A physical organic mechanistic approach to understanding the complex reaction network of hemostasis (blood clotting)

This review focuses on how the mechanistic approach of physical organic chemistry can be used to elucidate the mechanisms behind complex biochemical networks. The dynamics of biochemical reaction networks is difficult to describe by considering their individual reactions, just as the dynamics of organic reactions is difficult to describe by considering individual electrons and atomic nuclei. Physical organic chemists have developed a useful set of tools to predict the outcome of organic reactions by separating the interacting molecules into modules (functional groups), and defining general rules for how these modules interact (mechanisms). This review shows how these tools of physical organic chemistry may be used to describe reaction networks. In addition, it describes the application of these tools to develop a mechanistic understanding of the dynamics of the complex network of hemostasis, which regulates blood clotting. Impact of average photon-energy coefficient of solar spectrum on the short circuit current of photovoltaic modules

The output energy of photovoltaic (PV) modules is influenced by the spectral irradiance distribution of the solar spectrum under outdoor conditions. To rate the precise output energy of PV modules, the correction of short circuit current (I_SC) based on actual environmental conditions is needed, because I_SC significantly depends on the shape of the spectral irradiance distribution. The average photon energy (APE) is a zero-dimensional index for spectral irradiance distribution, and APE value uniquely describes the shape of a solar spectrum. Thus, APE has an impact on I_SC of PV modules. In this contribution, the relationship between APE coefficient and I_SC of the multi-crystalline silicon, single-crystalline silicon, heterojunction intrinsic thin-layer, back contact, copper indium selenide and cadmium telluride PV modules has explored. It is revealed that APE value changes the I_SC of PV modules which appeared to have immense possibilities of I_SC correction using APE coefficient. This new approach can be very effective for precise rating the output energy of PV modules under actual outdoor conditions.     

Construct irreducible representations of quantum groups U q (ƒ m (K))

In this paper, we construct families of irreducible representations for a class of quantum groups U _q (ƒ _m (K)). First, we give a natural construction of irreducible weight representations for U _q (ƒ _m (K)) using methods in spectral theory developed by Rosenberg. Second, we study the Whittaker model for the center of U _q (ƒ _m (K)). As a result, the structure of Whittaker representations is determined, and all irreducible Whittaker representations are explicitly constructed. Finally, we prove that the annihilator of a Whittaker representation is centrally generated.      

Extending Sets of Idempotents to Ring Extensions

In this paper the idea of an intrinsic extension of a ring, first proposed by Faith and Utumi, is generalized and studied in its own right. For these types of ring extensions, it is shown that, with relatively mild conditions on the base ring, R, a complete set of primitive idempotents (a complete set of left triangulating idempotents, a complete set of centrally primitive idempotents) can be constructed for an intrinsic extension, T, from a corresponding set in the base ring R. Examples and applications are given for rings that occur in functional analysis and group ring theory.     

Picard Groups of Rings of Coinvariants

Let k be a field, H a Hopf k-algebra with bijective antipode, A a right H-comodule algebra and C a Hopf algebra with bijective antipode which is also a right H-module coalgebra. Under some appropriate assumptions, and assuming that the set of grouplike elements G(A ⊗ C) of the coring A ⊗ C is a group, we show how to calculate, via an exact sequence, the Picard group of the subring of coinvariants in terms of the Picard group of A and various subgroups of G(A ⊗ C). Bitableau bases for Garsia-Haiman modules of hollow type

Garsia-Haiman modules C[Xn,Yn]/Iγ are quotient rings in the variables Xn={x₁,x₂,…,xn} and Yn={y₁,y₂,…,yn} that generalize the quotient ring C[Xn]/I, where I is the ideal generated by the elementary symmetric polynomials ej(Xn) for 1?j?n. A bitableau basis for the Garsia-Haiman modules of hollow type is constructed. Applications of this basis to representation theory and other related polynomial spaces are considered.

C*-Algebraic Intertwiners for Degenerate Principal Series of Special Linear Groups

The author constructs unitary intertwiners for degenerate C＊-algebraic uni- versal principal series of SL（n＋ 1） over a local field by explicitely normalizing standard intertwining integrals at the level of Hilbert modules.
