The Gegenbauer reconstruction method was first proposed in 1992, but in early studies no attempts were made to optimize the relevant parameters of this method. These parameters were allowed to grow proportionally with the number of nodes which, in many cases, resulted in exponential convergence for a selected range of the proportionality constants. Early studies also made clear that very large error bounds could be expected if these key parameters were not chosen carefully. Subsequent studies then pointed out that, although unrelated to the method’s analytically predictable domains of poor accuracy, round-off errors could also sabotage the method’s accuracy. The challenge of successfully implementing a Gegenbauer reconstruction then rests on understanding the performance trade-offs we can expect when choosing the key parameters in accordance with different objectives.In this study, we propose a new strategy for choosing optimal parameters in the Chebyshev-Gegenbauer reconstruction method, specifically to achieve numerical stability. This strategy is based on asymptotic analysis as well as minimization problems in one and two dimensions. The effectiveness of our approach, which could also be applied to a wider selection of polynomials is then illustrated with results from numerical experiments.  相似文献

In this paper, the exponential stability problem is addressed for a class of cyclic switched nonlinear systems with unstable modes. A novel event-triggered cyclic switching scheme (ETCSS) is proposed to generate a cyclic switching signal that exponentially stabilizes the considered system for any given initial configuration. Some easily verifiable stability criteria for switched nonlinear and linear systems are established, and the effects of event parameters on the convergence rate are also analyzed. Different from the existing studies, here the developed switching scheme is not only cyclic but also event-triggered and thereby the switching frequency is relatively low. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify the efficiency of the method.  相似文献

The phenomenon of the chaotic boundary crisis and the related concept of the chaotic destroyer saddle has become recently a new problem in the studies of the destruction of chaotic attractors in nonlinear oscillators. As it is known, in the case of regular boundary crisis, the homoclinic bifurcation of the destroyer saddle defines the parameters of the annihilation of the chaotic attractor. In contrast, at the chaotic boundary crisis, the outset of the destroyer saddle which branches away from the chaotic attractor is tangled prior to the crisis. In our paper, the main point of interest is the problem of a relation, if any, between the homoclinic tangling of the destroyer saddle and the other properties of the system which may accompany the chaotic as well as the regular boundary crisis. In particular, the question if the phenomena of fractal basin boundary, indeterminate outcome, and a period of the destroyer saddle, are directly implied by the structure of the destroyer saddle invariant manifolds, is examined for some examples of the boundary crisis that occur in the mathematical models of the twin-well and the single-well potential nonlinear oscillators.  相似文献

In this work, we show that for linear upper triangular systems of differential equations, we can use the diagonal entries to obtain the Sacker and Sell, or Exponential Dichotomy, and also –under some restrictions– the Lyapunov spectral intervals. Since any bounded and continuous coefficient matrix function can be smoothly transformed to an upper triangular matrix function, our results imply that these spectral intervals may be found from scalar homogeneous problems. In line with our previous work [Dieci and Van Vleck (2003), SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 40, 516–542], we emphasize the role of integral separation. Relationships between different spectra are shown, and examples are used to illustrate the results and define types of coefficient matrix functions that lead to continuous Sacker–Sell spectrum and/or continuous Lyapunov spectrum.   相似文献
