On ideal-function-like functions

The aim of this paper is to extend the considerations of the first and the third authors and others to the setting of Suetuna, i.e. we consider some important sums of multiplicative ideal-functions in relative extensions of number fields. This contains most of the earlier work on those sums related to the divisor and the circle problems.

A Commuting q-Analogue of the Addition Formula for Disk Polynomials

Starting from the addition formula for q-disk polynomials, which is an identity in noncommuting variables, we establish a basic analogue in commuting variables of the addition and product formula for disk polynomials. These contain, as limiting cases, the addition and product formula for little q-Legendre polynomials. As q tends to 1 the addition and product formula for disk polynomials are recovered. Inequalities for Edge Lengths and Volumes of Two Simplexes

In this paper, a class of geometric inequalities for the edge lengths and volumes of two n-dimensional simplexes are established. As a corollary, a generalization to several dimensions of the Neuberg–Pedoe inequality is given.     

An anomaly formula for Ray–Singer metrics on manifolds with boundary

Using the heat kernel, we derive first a local Gauss–Bonnet–Chern theorem for manifolds with a non-product metric near the boundary. Then we establish an anomaly formula for Ray–Singer metrics defined by a Hermitian metric on a flat vector bundle over a Riemannian manifold with boundary, not assuming that the Hermitian metric on the flat vector bundle is flat nor that the Riemannian metric has product structure near the boundary. Abel’s theorem in the noncommutative case

We define noncommutative binary forms. Using the typical representation of Hermite we prove the fundamental theorem of algebra and we derive a noncommutative Cardano formula for cubic forms. We define quantized elliptic and hyperelliptic differentials of the first kind. Following Abel we prove Abel’s theorem.

Riemannian Geometry of Conical Singular Sets

In this paper, we study a class of singular Riemannian manifolds. The singular set itself is a smooth manifold with a cone-like neighborhood. By imposing a reasonable convergence condition on the metric, we can determine the local geometrical structure near the singular set. In general, the curvature near the singular set is unbounded. We prove that a bounded curvature assumption would have a strong implication on the geometrical and topological structures near the singular set. We also establish the Gauss–Bonnet–Chern formula, which can be applied to the study of singular Eistein 4-manifolds.

Richardson extrapolation in boundary value problems for differential equations with nonregular right-hand side

When the finite-difference method is used to solve initial- or boundary value problems with smooth data functions, the accuracy of the numerical results may be considerably improved by acceleration techniques like Richardson extrapolation. However, the success of such a technique is doubtful in cases were the right-hand side or the coefficients of the equation are not sufficiently smooth, because the validity of an asymptotic error expansion — which is the theoretical prerequisite for the convergence analysis of the Richardson extrapolation — is not a priori obvious. In this work we show that the Richardson extrapolation may be successfully applied to the finite-difference solutions of boundary value problems for ordinary second-order linear differential equations with a nonregular right-hand side. We present some numerical results confirming our conclusions.
