It is well known that Newton's interpolation polynomial is based on divided differences which produce useful intermediate
results and allow one to compute the polynomial recursively. Thiele's interpolating continued fraction is aimed at building
a rational function which interpolates the given support points. It is interesting to notice that Newton's interpolation polynomials
and Thiele's interpolating continued fractions can be incorporated in tensor‐product‐like manner to yield four kinds of bivariate
interpolation schemes. Among them are classical bivariate Newton's interpolation polynomials which are purely linear interpolants,
branched continued fractions which are purely nonlinear interpolants and have been studied by Chaffy, Cuyt and Verdonk, Kuchminska,
Siemaszko and many other authors, and Thiele-Newton's bivariate interpolating continued fractions which are investigated in
another paper by one of the authors. In this paper, emphasis is put on the study of Newton-Thiele's bivariate rational interpolants.
By introducing so‐called blending differences which look partially like divided differences and partially like inverse differences,
we give a recursive algorithm accompanied with a numerical example. Moreover, we bring out the error estimation and discuss
the limiting case.

We examine a special linear combination of balanced very-well-poised basic hypergeometric series that is known to satisfy a transformation. We call this and show that it satisfies certain three-term contiguous relations. From two of these contiguous relations for we obtain fifty-six pairwise linearly independent solutions to a three-term recurrence that generalizes the recurrence for Askey-Wilson polynomials. The associated continued fraction is evaluated using Pincherle's theorem. From this continued fraction we are able to derive a discrete system of biorthogonal rational functions. This ties together Wilson's results for rational biorthogonality, Watson's -analogue of Ramanujan's Entry 40 continued fraction, and a conjecture of Askey concerning the latter. Some new -series identities are also obtained. One is an important three-term transformation for 's which generalizes all the known two- and three-term transformations. Others are new and unexpected quadratic identities for these very-well-poised 's.

Associated with an ordered sequence of an even number 2N of positive real numbers is a birth and death process (BDP) on {0, 1, 2,…, N} having these real numbers as its birth and death rates. We generate another birth and death process from this BDP on {0, 1, 2,…, 2N}. This can be further iterated. We illustrate with an example from tan(kz). We define and describe a class of algebraic continued fractions for power series over a finite field. We consider the limit periodic continued fractions of Stieltjes type
appearing as Schur–Wall g-fraction representations of certain analytic self maps of the unit disc |w|<1, w∈ℂ. We make precise the convergence behavior and prove the general convergence [2, p. 564] of these continued fractions at
Runckel’s points [6] of the singular line (1,+∞). It is shown that in some cases the convergence holds in the classical sense.
As a result we provide an interesting example of convergence relevant to one result found in the Ramanujan’s notebook [1,
pp. 38–39].

This paper presents complete solutions of the stationary distributions of buffer occupancy and buffer content of a fluid queue driven by an M/M/1 queue. We assume a general boundary condition when compared to the model discussed in Virtamo and Norros [Queueing Systems 16 (1994) 373–386] and Adan and Resing [Queueing Systems 22 (1996) 171–174]. We achieve the required solutions by transforming the underlying system of differential equations using Laplace transforms to a system of difference equations leading to a continued fraction. This continued fraction helps us to find complete solutions. We also obtain the buffer content distribution for this fluid model using the method of Sericola and Tuffin [Queueing Systems 31 (1999) 253–264]. 相似文献
