Semiuniform convergence spaces form a common generalization of filter spaces (including symmetric convergence spaces [and thus symmetric topological spaces] as well as Cauchy spaces) and uniform limit spaces (including uniform spaces) with many convenient properties such as cartesian closedness, hereditariness and the fact that products of quotients are quotients. Here, for each semiuniform convergence space a completion is constructed, called the simple completion. This one generalizes Császár's -completion of filter spaces. Thus, filter spaces are characterized as subspaces of convergence spaces. Furthermore, Wyler's completion of separated uniform limit spaces can be easily derived from the simple completion.  相似文献

In this article we deal with the problem of stability of the conclusions from principal components analysis over repeated samples. We define a measure of stability for each component and investigate some of the measures properties. We then obtain the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) of the measures, and derive their joint limiting distributions. The MLEs of the measures turn out to be asymptotically unbiased and jointly have the multivariate normal distribution. Modified estimators are also found to reduce the amount of bias in the MLEs. To facilitate interpretation of the measures we define stability confidence level as coverage probability, and associate with each measure a stability confidence level to describe the measure in terms of probability. Finally, we investigate the stability of the components via a simulation study and compare the performance of the MLEs and the modified estimators in terms of bias and precision. The paper considers the sharpness problem for certain two-sided bounds for the Perron root of an irreducible nonnegative matrix. The results obtained are applied to prove the sharpness of the related eigenvalue inclusion sets in classes of matrices with fixed diagonal entries, bounded above deleted absolute row sums, and a partly specified irreducible sparsity pattern.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an alternative method to compute the eigenvalue of an irreducible (max,+)-system. The method resembles the well-known simplex method in linear programming in the sense that the eigenvalue and a corresponding eigenvector are obtained by going along the boundary of a polygon-like set, while increasing the number of equalities in some (max,+)-algebraic eigenvalue–eigenvector expression, until only equalities are left over. The latter is unlike the normal linear programming approach where, going along the boundary of a polygon-like set, a linear functional is optimized.  相似文献

Starting from one fullerene, the three geometric transformations, cap, face dual and edge dual produce series of carbon clusters and deltahedra. The geometric relation between these polyhedra implies that their topological matrices and eigenvalue spectra must be relative. We have developed a matrix algebra method to research some polyhedra with high symmetry and one kind, two or three kinds of equivalent vertices such as C60(Ih), resolve their exact eigenvalues, and proved this point.  相似文献

Inverse iteration is simple but not very efficient method for computing few eigenvalues with minimal absolute values and corresponding eigenvectors of a symmetric matrix. The idea is to increase its efficiency by technique similar to multigrid methods used for solving linear systems. This approach is not new, but until now multigrid was mostly used for solving linear system which appear in Rayleigh quotient iteration, inverse iteration and related iterative methods. Instead of choosing appropriate coordinates (grids), our algorithm performs inverse iteration on a sequence of subspaces with decreasing dimensions (multispace). Block Lanczos method is used for the selection of a smaller subspace. This will produce a banded matrix, which makes inverse iteration even faster in the smaller dimensions.   相似文献

The Szegö and Avram–Parter theorems give the limit of the arithmetic mean of the values of certain test functions at the eigenvalues of Hermitian Toeplitz matrices and the singular values of arbitrary Toeplitz matrices, respectively, as the matrix dimension goes to infinity. The question on whether these theorems are true whenever they make sense is essentially the question on whether they are valid for all continuous, nonnegative, and monotonously increasing test functions. We show that, surprisingly, the answer to this question is negative. On the other hand, we prove the two theorems in a general form which includes all versions known so far.  相似文献
