Synergistic effects on iodine release in potassium iodide solution by combination of ultrasound and visible light irradiations

Iodine release in potassium iodide solution has been investigated under the irradiations of ultrasound and visible light respectively and simultaneously. We have observed that the amount of iodine liberated under the combined irradiation of ultrasound and visible light is larger than the sum of that under the respective irradiations of ultrasound and visible light, indicating a synergistic effect of ultrasound and visible light irradiations. Based on the investigation of the reaction kinetics of iodine liberated, we have ascribed the synergistic effect to the perfect stirring of the photochemical reactor induced by the applying simultaneous ultrasound. The ideal stirring can result in the homogenization of the primary light effect in the whole reaction medium, which induces the acceleration of the photochemical reaction. On behavior of our knowledge, there are few reports on the investigations of utilizing the combination of ultrasonic energy and light energy to accelerate the reaction yield and rate as well as the kinetics of the reaction.     

Improvement on peak-to-trough ratio of sampled fiber Bragg gratings with multiple phase shifts

Via a cascaded structure, the peak-to-trough ratio is considerably improved for sampled fiber Bragg gratings （SFBGs） based on multiple-phase-shift （MPS） technique. This cascaded filter is composed of two identical SFBGs which are inserted with the increasing or decreasing arrangement of phase shifts. With this inverse arrangement of MPS in grating design, the phase fluctuation of individual SFBG can be compensated, and as a result an excellent phase matching condition is realized. In this way, the peak-to- trough ratio in reflection spectra is improved from 6 to 12 dB when multiplication factor m = 4, and from 5dBto 10dBwhenm=8.     

Enhanced nonlinearity in photonic crystal fiber by germanium doping in the core region

Germanium doping in silica can be used as a method for nonlinearity enhancement.Properties of the enhanced nonlinearity in photonic crystal fiber(PCF)with a GeO2-doped core are investigated theoretically by using all-vector finite element method.Numerical result shows that the nonlinear coefficient of PCF is greatly enhanced with increasing doping concentration,furthermore,optimal radius of the doped region should be considered for the desired operating wavelength.     

A summation‐integral type modification of Szász–Mirakjan operators

对偶算法的进一步研究

The dual algorithm for minimax problems is further studied in this paper. The resulting theoretical analysis shows that the condition number of the corresponding Hessian of the smooth modified Lagrange function with changing parameter in the dual algorithm is proportional to the reciprocal of the parameter,which is very important for the efficiency of the dual algorithm. At last ,the numerical experiments are reported to validate the analysis results.     

PERIODIC BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS FOR FIRST ORDER FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

In this paper, we investigate the periodic boundary value problems for nonlinear first order functional differential equations. By establishing a new comparison result, criteria on the existence of maximal and minimal solutions are obtained.     

A De Giorgi Type Result to Divergence Degenerate Elliptic Equation with Bounded Coefficients Related To Hörmander's Vector Fields

In this paper, we consider the divergence degenerate elliptic equation with bounded coefficients constructed by Hörmander's vector fields. We prove a De Giorgi type result, i.e., the local Hölder continuity for the weak solutions to the equation by providing a De Giorgi type lemma and extending the Moser iteration to the setting here. As a consequence, the Harnack inequality of weak solutions is also given.     

Tutorial review on validation of liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry methods: Part I

This is the part I of a tutorial review intending to give an overview of the state of the art of method validation in liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC–MS) and discuss specific issues that arise with MS (and MS/MS) detection in LC (as opposed to the “conventional” detectors). The Part I briefly introduces the principles of operation of LC–MS (emphasizing the aspects important from the validation point of view, in particular the ionization process and ionization suppression/enhancement); reviews the main validation guideline documents and discusses in detail the following performance parameters: selectivity/specificity/identity, ruggedness/robustness, limit of detection, limit of quantification, decision limit and detection capability. With every method performance characteristic its essence and terminology are addressed, the current status of treating it is reviewed and recommendations are given, how to determine it, specifically in the case of LC–MS methods.
