A laser diode was designed using a method called sampled grating (SG) distributed feedback (DFB), in which the couplings have been distributed in certain regions along the laser cavity (i.e., regions contain grating). These regions play a big role in pushing the main mode to propagate faster than the side mode by increasing the time delay between them. This delay is due to the empty regions (i.e., regions without grating) along the laser cavity. Neither a phase shift nor incomplete grating have been taken into account with the new structure. The theoretical model in the present work is based on the coupled-mode equations which have been solved numerically by the mean of transfer matrix method (TMM).  相似文献

The paper introduces a new approach to dynamic modeling, using the variation principle, applied to a functional on trajectories of a controlled random process, and its connection to the process' information functional. In [V.S. Lerner, Dynamic approximation of a random information functional, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 327 (1) (2007) 494-514, available online 5-24-06], we presented the information path functional with the Lagrangian, determined by the parameters of a controlled stochastic equation. In this paper, the solution to the path functional's variation problem provides both a dynamic model of a random process and the model's optimal control, which allows us to build a two-level information model with a random process at the microlevel and a dynamic process at the macrolevel. A wide class of random objects, modeled by the Markov diffusion process and a common structure of the process' information functional, leads to a universal information structure of the dynamic model, which is specified and identified on a particular object with the applied optimal control functions. The developed mathematical formalism, based on classical methods, is aimed toward the solution of problems identification, combined with an optimal control synthesis, which is practically implemented and also demonstrated in the paper's example.  相似文献

Summary In controlling the mean of a multivariate normally distributed quality characteristic the main disadvantage of the globalT 2-control charts is that they don't indicate the component of the quality characteristic which gives rise to an alarm. To avoid this disadvantage the joint use of¯x-charts is proposed in this paper, where — for the sake of simplicity — the investigations are restricted to the case of independent components and to one-sided¯x-charts. On the basis of an economic objective function an approximation to the optimal design of the¯x-charts procedure is derived and discussed. It turns out that at least in the bivariate case the nearly optimal economic design is very close to the exact solution.Supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).  相似文献

A comprehensible and unified system control approach is presented to solve a class of production/inventory smoothing problems. A nonstationary, non-Gaussian, finite-time linear optimal solution with an attractive computation scheme is obtained for a general quadratic and linear cost structure. A complete solution to a classical production/inventory control problem is given as an example. A general solution to the discrete-time optimal regulator with arbitrary but known disturbance is provided and discussed in detail. A computationally attractive closed-loop suboptimal scheme is presented for problems with constraints or nonquadratic costs. Implementation and interpretation of the results are discussed.  相似文献

Control of the flow around a circular cylinder is studied using Large Eddy Simulation. The influence of control by rotation and suction on the flow characteristics is considered for several Reynolds numbers. Comparisons with experiments were conducted at Re=105 for the flow with and without control. A drag reduction up to 30% is obtained for an usual suction intensity. To cite this article: G. In a previous article the authors introduced a Lagrange multiplier based fictitious domain method. Their goal in the present article is to apply a generalization of the above method to: (i) the numerical simulation of the motion of neutrally buoyant particles in a three-dimensional Poiseuille flow; (ii) study – via direct numerical simulations – the migration of neutrally buoyant balls in the tube Poiseuille flow of an incompressible Newtonian viscous fluid. The underlying geometric structure of the standard OGY control scheme is analyzed. Some of the main mechanisms that under certain conditions lead to failure of the control algorithm are revealed. The limited controllability available in a system is investigated and it is shown that it may lead to serious problems that will significantly enlarge the state space region of failure of the standard OGY controller. A minimal distance algorithm is analyzed and shown to be, for some problems, more advantageous than the standard OGY technique. Nevertheless, for a broad category of problems, the minimal distance scheme is also shown to fail. As a solution for these problems, two new techniques are proposed: the penalized minimal distance and the multi-step OGY-type scheme. The standard OGY and minimal distance algorithms are particular cases of the new techniques proposed. Finally, we give a necessary condition that estimates the region of controllability under the multi-step OGY-type control. We demonstrate a significantly improved basin of convergence for the new multi-step OGY-type algorithm.  相似文献
