Phase transition at 233 K in [(CH3)4N]2cdI4

Abstract

[(CH₃)₄N]₂cdI₄ exhibits a phase transition at 233 K from Pnma to P2 1/c as shown by single-crystal X-ray measurements and differential scanning calorimetry. The observed entropy change amounts to approximately 8.4 J.mole^?1 K^?1 and the spontaneous strain is about – 18.10^?3. The symmetry change can be interpreted in the framework of the Landau theory.     

Dielectric study of polyaniline/poly (methylmethacrylate) composite films below the percolation threshold

We report results of dielectric relaxation studies of polyaniline/poly(methylmethacrylate) composites with polyaniline amount less than the percolation threshold in the frequency range of 0.1 Hz to 1 MHz and temperature range of 10 °C–170 °C. We find a significant dependence of the glass transition temperature Tg on the polyaniline amount in the composite. α and β relaxation processes relative to the PMMA matrix are also affected by the presence of polyaniline inclusion. We identify a relaxation process due to ionic conductivity and another process attributed to residual solvent. The characteristic relaxation frequency of each process and the activation energy depend on the polyaniline amount in the composite. The ac conductivity in the high frequency range is fitted to the universal power law of Jonscher characteristic of disordered materials.

The purpose of this article is to study an existence of p-bases and mainly to give some regularity criteria for semilocal rings essentially of finite type over fields.     

The decomposition of global conformal invariants IV: A proposition on local Riemannian invariants

This is the fourth in a series of papers where we prove a conjecture of Deser and Schwimmer regarding the algebraic structure of “global conformal invariants”; these are defined to be conformally invariant integrals of geometric scalars. The conjecture asserts that the integrand of any such integral can be expressed as a linear combination of a local conformal invariant, a divergence and of the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet integrand.The present paper lays out the second half of this entire work: The second half proves certain purely algebraic statements regarding local Riemannian invariants; these were used extensively in the first two papers in this series, see Alexakis (2007, 2009) [2] and [3]. These results may be of independent interest, applicable to related problems.     

On Liouville type theorems for fully nonlinear elliptic equations with gradient term

In this paper, we prove a Hadamard property and Liouville type theorems for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with a gradient term, both in the whole space and in an exterior domain.     

Deriving Energy-Gap of Some Hamiltonians with Kinetic Coupling by the Invariant Eigen-Operator Method

We begin with proposing a unitary operator responsible for diagonalizing the Hamiltonian with kinetic couplings in particle physics to get a new form of Hamiltonian which has no coupling terms. By virtue of the invariant eigen-operator (IEO) method we search for the invariant eigen-operators for the new Hamiltonian. In this way the energy-gap of the Hamiltonians can be naturally obtained. This method may be generalized to N-mode Hamiltonian with kinetic couplings case. Statistical stationary states for a two-layer quasi-geostrophic system

Existence of a family of locally invariant probability measures for large scale flows in enclosed temperate sea is proved. This model is extremely important for understanding the meso-scale phenomena in oceans. The techniques used are those developed by Albeverio and his collaborators.
