Geometric Counting on Wavefront Real Spherical Spaces

We provide L~p-versus L~∞-bounds for eigenfunctions on a real spherical space Z of wavefront type. It is shown that these bounds imply a non-trivial error term estimate for lattice counting on Z. The paper also serves as an introduction to geometric counting on spaces of the mentioned type.

研究了有非对称性和负传递性偏好的无限策略对策,提出了N-M稳定集和正则对策的概念,其中N-M稳定集是将合作对策中由Von Neumann 和Morgenstern给出的相应概念引入到策略对策中的.所谓正则对策是指其Nash均衡集中每条链关于一致偏好总有上界的无限策略对策.证明了每个正则对策都有唯一N-M稳定集. 此结果及其应用例子说明正则对策N-M稳定集的概念对于策略对策的纯Nash均衡的精炼起着重要作用.     

Sharp estimates for Hübner’s upper bound function with applications

New better estimates, which are given in terms of elementary functions, for the function r → (2/π)(1 - r2)K(r)K (r) + log r appearing in Hübner's sharp upper bound for the Hersch-Pfluger distortion function are obtained. With these estimates, some known bounds for the Hersch-Pfluger distortion function in quasiconformal theory are improved, thus improving the explicit quasiconformal Schwarz lemma and some known estimates for the solutions to the Ramanujan modular equations.

On the existence of optimal controls for quasilinear parabolic partial differential equations

A class of systems governed by quasilinear parabolic partial differential equations with first boundary conditions is considered. Existence of solutions for this class of systems and theira priori estimates are established. Further, a theorem on the existence of optimal controls for the corresponding control problem is obtained. Its proof is based on Filippov's implicit functions lemma. The control restraint setU is taken as a measurable multifunction.The authors wish to thank Professor L. Cesari for his most valuable comments and suggestions. Convexity of spheres in a manifold without conjugate points

For a non-compact, complete and simply connected manifoldM without conjugate points, we prove that if the determinant of the second fundamental form of the geodesic spheres inM is a radial function, then the geodesic spheres are convex. We also show that ifM is two or three dimensional and without conjugate points, then, at every point there exists a ray with no focal points on it relative to the initial point of the ray. The proofs use a result from the theory of vector bundles combined with the index lemma.     

A constructive proof of a permutation-based generalization of Sperner's lemma

In a recent paper, Gale has given an interesting generalization of the KKM lemma in combinatorial topology. We present a similar generalization of Sperner's well-known lemma and give a constructive proof. The argument uses the familiar idea of following simplicial paths in a triangulation. To demonstrate that the algorithm must work, orientation considerations are necessary. Gale's generalized KKM lemma is derived from the main result. A permutation-based generalization of Brouwer's fixed point theorem is also given.     

Solvability results for sublinear functions and operators

In this paper there are stated asymptotic solvability results which yield a Farkas' lemma for sublinear functions and operators. Applications to duality for homogeneous programming and to necessary optimality conditions for nonlinear programming are given. Some closedness conditions used in the paper are also discussed.

Zusammenfassung In dieser Arbeit werden asymptotische Lösbarkeitsresultate angegeben, die ein Farkas-Lemma für sublineare Funktionen und Operatoren liefern. Es werden Anwendungen auf die Dualitätstheorie homogener Programme und auf notwendige Optimalitätsbedingungen der nichtlinearen Programmierung angegeben. Einige Abgeschlossenheitsvoraussetzungen, die in der Arbeit benutzt werden, werden diskutiert.
