Generalized Einstein conditions on holomorphic Riemannian manifolds

Summary At first, a necessary and sufficient condition for a K?hler-Norden manifold to be holomorphic Einstein is found. Next, it is shown that the so-called (real) generalized Einstein conditions for K?hler-Norden manifolds are not essential since the scalarcurvature of such manifolds is constant. In this context, we study generalized holomorphic Einstein conditions. Using the one-to-one correspondence between K?hler-Norden structures and holomorphic Riemannian metrics, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for K?hler-Norden manifolds to satisfy the generalized holomorphic Einstein conditions. And a class of new examples of such manifolds is presented. Finally, in virtue of the obtained results, we mention that Theorems 1 and 2 of H. Kim and J. Kim [10] are not true in general.

Approximation of Matrices and a Family of Gander Methods for Polar Decomposition

Two matrix approximation problems are considered: approximation of a rectangular complex matrix by subunitary matrices with respect to unitarily invariant norms and a minimal rank approximation with respect to the spectral norm. A characterization of a subunitary approximant of a square matrix with respect to the Schatten norms, given by Maher, is extended to the case of rectangular matrices and arbitrary unitarily invariant norms. Iterative methods, based on the family of Gander methods and on Higham’s scaled method for polar decomposition of a matrix, are proposed for computing subunitary and minimal rank approximants. Spectroscopy of the regenerative soot

The mechanisms and processes of the formation of the regenerative soot in a graphite hollow cathode discharge that produces and emits carbon clusters are presented. Mass spectrometry with a specially designed E×B velocity filter analyzes the entire range of the charged clusters from C ₁ to ∼C ₄₃₀₀. The state of the carbon vapour within the source is evaluated by using the characteristic line emissions from the carbonaceous discharge whose formative mechanisms depend upon the kinetic and potential sputtering of the sooted cathode. The carbonaceous discharge generates atomic and ionic C and its clusters C _m (m≥ 2), noble gas metastable atoms and ions, energetic electrons and photons in the cavity of the graphite hollow cathode. The parameters of soot formation and its recycling depend critically on the discharge parameters, the geometry of the hollow cathode and 3D profile of the cusp magnetic field contours. Analogues of the Kolosov–Muskhelishvili General Representation Formulas and Cauchy–Riemann Conditions in the Theory of Elastic Mixtures

Analogues of the well-known Kolosov–Muskhelishvili formulas of general representations are obtained for nonhomogeneous equations of statics in the case of the theory of elastic mixtures. It is shown that in this theory the displacement and stress vector components, as well as the stress tensor components, are represented through four arbitrary analytic functions.The usual Cauchy–Riemann conditions are generalized for homogeneous equations of statics in the theory of elastic mixtures.

Velocity spectrum for non-Markovian Brownian motion in a periodic potential

Non-Markovian Brownian motion in a periodic potential is studied by means of an electronic analogue simulator. Velocity spectra, the Fourier transforms of velocity autocorrelation functions, are obtained for three types of random force, that is, a white noise, an Ornstein—Uhlenbeck process, and a quasimonochromatic noise. The analogue results are in good agreement both with theoretical ones calculated with the use of a matrix-continued-fraction method, and with the results of digital simulations. An unexpected extra peak in the velocity spectrum is observed for Ornstein-Uhlenbeck noise with large correlation time. The peak is attributed to a slow oscillatory motion of the Brownian particle as it moves back and forth over several lattice spaces. Its relationship to an approximate Langevin equation is discussed.
