This paper classifies the derivations of group algebras in terms of the generators and defining relations of the group. If RG is a group ring, where R is commutative and S is a set of generators of G then necessary and sufficient conditions on a map from S to RG are established, such that the map can be extended to an R-derivation of RG. Derivations are shown to be trivial for semisimple group algebras of abelian groups. The derivations of finite group algebras are constructed and listed in the commutative case and in the case of dihedral groups. In the dihedral case, the inner derivations are also classified. Lastly, these results are applied to construct well known binary codes as images of derivations of group algebras.  相似文献

Let A be a von Neumann algebra with no central abelian projections. We consider the structure of groups and algebras that can be represented as automorphisms, respectively derivations, of bilinear maps. Representations of that sort arise when we attempt to describe the automorphisms of groups, rings, and algebras that are nilpotent. We introduce exact sequences that capture structure and prove theorems of Morita and Skolem–Noether type. We apply these results to compute automorphisms of groups and rings.  相似文献

The characteristic polynomial of a multiarrangement   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Given a multiarrangement of hyperplanes we define a series by sums of the Hilbert series of the derivation modules of the multiarrangement. This series turns out to be a polynomial. Using this polynomial we define the characteristic polynomial of a multiarrangement which generalizes the characteristic polynomial of an arrangement. The characteristic polynomial of an arrangement is a combinatorial invariant, but this generalized characteristic polynomial is not. However, when the multiarrangement is free, we are able to prove the factorization theorem for the characteristic polynomial. The main result is a formula that relates ‘global’ data to ‘local’ data of a multiarrangement given by the coefficients of the respective characteristic polynomials. This result gives a new necessary condition for a multiarrangement to be free. Consequently it provides a simple method to show that a given multiarrangement is not free.  相似文献

Given a von Neumann algebra M with a faithful normal semi-finite trace τ, we consider the non-commutative Arens algebra Lω(M,τ)=?p?1Lp(M,τ) and the related algebras and which are proved to be complete metrizable locally convex *-algebras. The main purpose of the present paper is to prove that any derivation of the algebra is inner and all derivations of the algebras Lω(M,τ) and are spatial and implemented by elements of . In particular we obtain that if the trace τ is finite then any derivation on the non-commutative Arens algebra Lω(M,τ) is inner.  相似文献
