Even systems in which strong electron correlation effects are present, such as the large near-degeneracy correlation in a
dissociating electron pair bond exemplified by stretched H2, are represented in the Kohn–Sham (KS) model of non-interacting electrons by a determinantal wavefunction built from the
KS molecular orbitals. As a contribution to the discussion on the status and meaning of the KS orbitals we investigate, for
the prototype system of H2 at large bond distance, and also for a one-dimensional molecular model, how the electron correlation effects show up in the
shape of the KS σ
g
orbital. KS orbitals φHL and φFCI obtained from the correlated Heitler-London and full configuration interaction wavefunctions are compared to the orbital
φLCAO, the traditional linear combination of atomic orbitals (LCAO) form of the (approximate) Hartree-Fock orbital. Electron correlation
manifests itself in an essentially non-LCAO structure of the KS orbitals φHL and φFCI around the bond midpoint, which shows up particularly clearly in the Laplacian of the KS orbital. There are corresponding
features in the kinetic energy density t
s
of the KS system (a well around the bond midpoint) and in the one-electron KS potential v
s
(a peak). The KS features are lacking in the Hartree-Fock orbital, in a minimal LCAO approximation as well as in the exact
one.

The self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of 1-adamantanethiolate and its derivatives on Au(111) surface were investigated. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation indicates that the most stable configuration for absorption is at the face centered cubic (fcc)-bridge site. Canonical ensemble molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were carried out to study the structures and energies of the SAMs. The ordered structures of the SAMs were analyzed by means of radial distribution function and the relative stability of the SAMs was compared. It was concluded by the comparison of various contributions to the SAM formation energy that the formation of the SAMs was determined by the intermolecular nonbonding interaction and the chemical bonding interaction of sulfur and gold. 相似文献

Sulfur diisocyanate is generated from a heterogeneous reaction of gaseous sulfur dichloride with silver cyanate and studied for the first time in the gas phase. Combined with quantum chemical calculations, the electronic structure is characterized by photoelectron spectroscopy (PES). Simultaneously, an investigation of the possible ionization and dissociation processes for the molecular cation is presented based on experimental soft ionization mass spectrometry. From the calculated bond-dissociation energies, the dissociation pathway is determined. S(NCO)2+ undergoes 1,3-sigmatropic rearrangement with a smaller barrier height (9.9 kcal mol(-1)) than the neutral counterpart. Thus, the 1,3-sigmatropic rearrangement is preferred for the molecular cation, and OCNCO+ and NS+ is produced by subsequent dissociation of the rearrangement product. The analysis agrees very well with the experimental mass spectrum. 相似文献

Two types of novel functionalized N‐[4‐(4′‐hydroxyphenyloxycarbonyl)phenyl]maleimide and N‐(4‐{[2‐(3‐thienyl)acetyl]oxyphenyl}oxycarbonylphenyl)maleimide (MIThi) were synthesized starting from 4‐maleimido benzoic acid. Photoinduced radical homopolymerization of MIThi and its copolymerization with styrene were performed at room temperature to give linear polymers containing pendant thienyl moieties using ω,ω‐dimethoxy‐ω‐phenylacetophenone as an initiator. Copolymers' compositions and the equilibrium constant (K) for electron donor–acceptor complex formation suggest an alternating nature of the copolymerization. The monomer reactivity ratios and Alfrey–Price Q,e values were also determined. The thermal behavior of the new synthesized monomers and polymers was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report potential of mean force (PMF) calculations on the interaction between the p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene and a monovalent cation (Cs(+)). It has been recently shown from microcalorimetry and (133)Cs NMR experiments that the association with Cs(+) is governed by favourable cation-pi interactions and is characterized by the insertion of the cation into the cavity of the macrocycle. We show that the PMF calculation based upon a classical model is not able to reproduce both the thermodynamic properties of association and the insertion of the cation. In order to take into account the different contributions of the cation-pi interactions, we develop a new methodology consisting of changing the standard PMF by an additional contribution resulting from quantum calculations. The calculated thermodynamic properties of association are thus in line with the microcalorimetry and (133)Cs NMR experiments and the structure of the complex at the Gibbs free-energy minimum shows the insertion of the cation into the cavity of the calixarene. 相似文献

The experimental electron density distribution in taurine, 2-aminoethane sulfonic acid, 1, has been determined from high-resolution X-ray diffraction data collected at a temperature of 100 K. Taurine crystallizes as a zwitterion in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c. Topological analysis of the experimental electron density and a comparison with high-level theoretical gas-phase calculations show that the crystal environment has a significant influence on the electronic configuration of the sulfonate moiety in 1, which in the crystal is more delocalized than in the gas phase. This crystal effect is mainly due to hydrogen bonding. 相似文献

运用密度泛函理论(DFT)和半经验MO-PM3方法研究了NO2气相硝化金刚烷反应机理. 计算结果表明, NO2不能直接取代金刚烷H; 在B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,2pd)//B3LYP/6-31G* 较高水平下, 对三个可能机理的反应势垒(Ea)的精确计算表明, 该反应的决速步骤为NO2中O和N进攻1-H的竞争过程, 且1-硝基金刚烷为主要产物. NO2中O进攻1-H决速反应过程中, 分子几何、原子自然电荷及IR光谱变化表明, C—H键的断裂和N—H键的形成是一个协同过程; 参与新键形成和旧键断裂原子C(1), H(11), O(28), O(29)和N(27)的原子自然电荷及与其相关的键长、键角有明显的变化. 反应过程中体系偶极矩的变化表明, 极性溶剂能降低反应势垒, 有利于反应的进行. 相似文献

The first study of the voltammetric reduction of cyclooctatetraene (COT) in tetrahydrofuran (THF) in the presence of lithium ion is reported. A single wave is observed at ?2.23 V vs. Ag/0.1 M AgNO3. Density functional calculations have been carried out on a variety of COT/Li/THF species in order to clarify the nature and role of ion pairing in this system. The dominant species in solution are the COT/Li/(THF)2 anion radical and the COT/Li2/(THF)4 dianion. Computer simulations have been carried out to further understand the effects of ion pairing on the reduction. The simulations show that coalescence of two waves into one can occur in the presence of strong ion pairing even when the second reduction potential is negative of the first. 相似文献

A self‐sampling‐and‐flow biosensor was fabricated by sandwiching a nitrocellulose strip on the working electrode side of the double‐sided microporous gold electrodes and a wicking pad on the counter electrode side. The double‐sided microporous electrodes were formed by plasma sputtering of gold on a porous nylon substrate. Sample was taken up to the enzyme‐immobilized working electrode by the capillary action of the front nitrocellulose strip dipped into the sample solution, analyzed electrochemically at the enzyme‐immobilized electrode, and diffuses out to the backside wicking pad through the micropores of the electrodes, constituting a complete flow cell device with no mechanical liquid‐transporting device. Biosensor was formed by co‐immobilizing the glucose oxidase and electron transfer mediator (ferrocene acetic acid) on the thioctic acid self‐assembled monolayer‐modified working electrode. A typical response time of the biosensor was about 5 min with the sensitivity of 2.98 nA/mM glucose, providing linear response up to 22.5 mM. To demonstrate the use of self‐sampling‐and‐flow biosensor, the consumption rate of glucose in the presence of yeast was monitored for five days. 相似文献
