Fast Integrated Electro-Optical Switch and Beam Deflector Based on Nematic Liquid Crystal Waveguides

In this paper, the design, the realization, and the experimental characterization of an integrated electro-optical switch and a beam deflector, both based on planar nematic liquid crystal (NLC) waveguides, are reported. In order to test such devices, a particular waveguide structure consisting of a three-stage device, having a thin nematic LC film as the middle stage and two glass waveguides as the other stages, has been designed and realized. The electro-optical behavior and the response time have been studied for different configurations for both TE and TM polarized light. By a proper choice of the material parameters and because of the presence of an additional constant bias voltage, we got response time in the microsecond range. The experimental results obtained are very promising in the frame of integrated electro-optical devices, even if the effect underlying the results is not yet understood and probably needs some deeper research into liquid crystal physics and surface interactions.     

On Monomial Reduction and Polynomial Expressions with Respect to Binomial Ideals

Let I ? K[x ₁,…, x _n ] be an ideal and G be the reduced Gröbner basis of I with respect to lexicographic monomial order. We introduce the index of an expression of f ∈ K[x ₁,…, x _n ] with respect to G. A minimal expression is characterized as the one with zero G-index. In case where I is a binomial prime ideal, a new division algorithm with minimal and unique expression is presented. The application of our new method on benchmark polynomial systems cyclic-9 and cyclic-12 shows its superiority in comparison with the existing division algorithm.     

On the Two-Architecture Connected Facility Location Problem

We introduce a new variant of the connected facility location problem that allows for modeling mixed deployment strategies (FTTC/FTTB/FTTH) in the design of local access telecommunication networks. Several mixed integer programming models and valid inequalities are presented. Computational studies on realistic instances from three towns in Germany are provided.     

Fixed point theorems for Reich type contractions on metric spaces with a graph

Let (X,d)$(X,d)$ be a metric space endowed with a graph G$G$ such that the set V(G)$V\left(G\right)$ of vertices of G$G$ coincides with X$X$. We define the notion of G$G$-Reich type maps and obtain a fixed point theorem for such mappings. This extends and subsumes many recent results which were obtained for other contractive type mappings on ordered metric spaces and for cyclic operators.     

Using the K5Connected Cognition Diagram to analyze teachers’ communication and understanding of regions in three-dimensional space

This paper reports on a study that introduces and applies the K₅Connected Cognition Diagram as a lens to explore video data showing teachers’ interactions related to the partitioning of regions by axes in a three-dimensional geometric space. The study considers “semiotic bundles” ( Arzarello, 2006), introduces “semiotic connections,” and discusses the fundamental role each plays in developing individual understanding and communication with peers. While all teachers solved the problem posed, many failed to make or verbalize connections between the types of semiotic resources introduced during their discussions.     

葛酒中葛根素及其挥发性成分分析

HPL C法定量测定了葛酒中葛根素的含量 ,葛酒中含有一定量的异黄酮类化合物葛根素 ,相同品牌不同生产批号葛酒中的葛根素含量相对稳定 ,可作为葛酒质量控制的分析方法。对葛酒中挥发性成分采用气相色谱 -质谱 (GC- MS)联机进行定性分析 ,鉴定出 10个组分。与白酒中挥发性成分比较 ,葛酒中除了含有己酸乙酯等白酒中具有的相同成分之外 ,还含有酸、酮等化合物 ,与传统的白酒工艺相比 ,葛酒的酿造过程具有一定特色。     

序列图像中运动目标的自动提取方法

针对目标检测与跟踪领域中的运动目标自动提取问题,提出了一种新的运动目标自动提取方法.利用已有的图像帧滤波后初始化背景,并在运动目标检测过程中,利用检测结果,不断地自动更新背景.使用背景差法检测运动区域,并对差分图像进行动态阈值分割,以及边缘链接,使其边缘处于基本连续状态.在得到的二值图上,提取轮廓,并根据目标大小选择面积阈值,剔除由于噪音或者背景提取不干净造成的虚假轮廓,将得到的轮廓掩模图像与原图像做逻辑与运算,提取出目标.实验结果表明,该方法可以有效地提取出刚体或非刚体运动目标.     

关于L-拓扑空间中连通性的几个问题

本文指出,王国俊的专著《L-fuzzy拓扑空间论》中关于连通性的许多不成立的结论,在fuzzy格L的最大元1是分子的情况下仍成立。从而得到一般连通L-集的新刻画与新性质．并证明了这种连通性是L-好推广。

Comparison of direct and indirect calculations of laryngeal airway resistance in connected speech

Direct measures of subglottal pressure obtained through a tracheal puncture were used to calculate laryngeal airway resistance. Six subjects completed tasks including syllable trains and more natural speech samples produced at three loudness levels. Direct calculations of natural speech resistance values were compared with indirect estimates obtained during syllable train production. The degree of correspondence between direct and indirect calculations varied by subject. Overall, the smallest relative errors among calculations occurred for syllable trains, with higher relative errors for the monologue and sentence. For loudness conditions, the smallest and largest relative errors occurred for soft and loud productions, respectively. The clinical utility of indirect estimation is questioned and suggestions for improving its validity are provided.
