Ridged Domains,Embedding Theorems and Poincaré Inequalities

We study the embeddings E : W(X(Ω), Y(Ω)) ↪ Z(Ω), where X(Ω), Y(Ω) and Z(Ω) are rearrangement–invariant Banach function spaces (BFS) defined on a generalized ridged domain Ω, and W denotes a first–order Sobolev–type space. We obtain two–sided estimates for the measure of non–compactness of E when Z(Ω) = X(Ω) and, in turn, necessary and sufficient conditions for a Poincaré–type inequality to be valid and also for E to be compact. The results are used to analyse the example of a trumpet–shaped domain Ω in Lorentz spaces. We consider the problem of determining the range of possible target spaces Z(Ω), in which case we prove that the problem is equivalent to an analogue on the generalized ridge Γ of Ω. The range of target spaces Z(Ω) is determined amongst a scale of (weighted) Lebesgue spaces for “rooms and passages” and trumpet–shaped domains.     

On the Boltzmann Equation for Fermi–Dirac Particles with Very Soft Potentials: Averaging Compactness of Weak Solutions

The paper considers macroscopic behavior of a Fermi–Dirac particle system. We prove the L ¹-compactness of velocity averages of weak solutions of the Boltzmann equation for Fermi–Dirac particles in a periodic box with the collision kernel b(cos θ)|ρ−ρ _*|^γ, which corresponds to very soft potentials: −5 < γ ≤ −3 with a weak angular cutoff: ∫₀ ^π b(cos θ)sin ³θ dθ < ∞. Our proof for the averaging compactness is based on the entropy inequality, Hausdorff–Young inequality, the L ^∞-bounds of the solutions, and a specific property of the value-range of the exponent γ. Once such an averaging compactness is proven, the proof of the existence of weak solutions will be relatively easy.

Positive solutions for some Schrödinger equations having partially periodic potentials

This paper is concerned with the problem of finding positive solutions of the equation −Δu+(a_∞+a(x))u=|u|^q−2u, where q is subcritical, Ω is either RN or an unbounded domain which is periodic in the first p coordinates and whose complement is contained in a cylinder , a_∞>0, a∈C(RN,R) is periodic in the first p coordinates, infx∈RN(a_∞+a(x))>0 and a(x^′,x^″)→0 as |x^″|→∞ uniformly in x^′. The cases a?0 and a?0 are considered and it is shown that, under appropriate assumptions on a, the problem has one solution in the first case and p+1 solutions in the second case when p?N−2.     

A parametrized compactness theorem under bounded Ricci curvature

We prove a parametrized compactness theorem on manifolds of bounded Ricci curvature, upper bounded diameter, and lower bounded injectivity radius.     

Random attractors for stochastic reaction‐diffusion equations with multiplicative noise in

In this paper, we study the random dynamical system generated by a stochastic reaction‐diffusion equation with multiplicative noise and prove the existence of an ‐random attractor for such a random dynamical system. The nonlinearity f is supposed to satisfy some growth of arbitrary order .     

Multiplicity of solutions for Kirchhoff type equations involving critical Sobolev exponents in high dimension

In this paper, we study the following Kirchhoff‐type elliptic problem where is a bounded domain with smooth boundary ?Ω, a,b,λ,μ > 0 and 1 < q < 2^?=2N/(N ? 2). When N = 4, we obtain that there is a ground state solution to the problem for q∈(2,4) by using a variational methods constrained on the Nehari manifold and also show the problem possesses infinitely many negative energy solutions for q∈(1,2) by applying usual Krasnoselskii genus theory. In addition, we admit that there is a positive solution to the equations for N≥5 under some suitable conditions. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

THE COMPACT COMPOSITION OPERATOR ON THE μ-BERGMAN SPACE IN THE UNIT BALL

nAbstract Let p 0 and μ be a normal function on [0, 1), ν(r) =(1-r~2)~(1+(n/p)) μ(r) for r ∈ [0, 1). In this article, the bounded or compact weighted composition operator T_φ,ψfrom the μ-Bergman space A~p(μ) to the normal weight Bloch type space β_ν in the unit ball is characterized. The briefly sufficient and necessary condition that the composition operator C_φis compact from A~p(μ) to β_ν is given. At the same time, the authors give the briefly sufficient and necessary condition that C_φis compact on β_μ for a 1.
