Graph theoretical procedures for determination of eigenspectra of molecular graphs: A brief review

Several graph theoretical procedures for obtaining eigenvalues of π-conjugated molecules have been discussed. Procedures for generation of characteristic polynomial corresponding to a molecular graph and its subsequent solutions for obtaining graph eigenspectra have been mentioned briefly. Moreover discussions on Laplacian and distance polynomials that offer more physico-chemical information already not present in the characteristic polynomial have also been carried out shortly.     

Möbius function and characteristic monomials for combinatorial enumeration

After the definitions of amplified representations and number-theoretical vectors, the markaracter table of a cyclic subgroup is converted into the corresponding Q-conjugacy character table. The conversion is shown to necessitate an interconversion matrix that contains M?bius functions as elements. Since the interconversion matrix gives characteristic monomials for cyclic groups, all the powers appearing in each of the characteristic monomials are shown to be integers. Characteristic monomials for finite groups are then built up by starting from those of cyclic groups. This procedure clarifies the fact that all the powers appearing in each characteristic monomial for finite groups are integers. The relationship between characteristic monomial tables and unit-subduced-cycle-index tables is discussed with respect to their application to isomer enumeration. Based on the interfacial model of a conduction calorimeter, a characteristic thermogram equation is suggested in this paper. Measurements of only two quantities such as the maximum peak height △m and its time tm, enables us to calculate the peak height at any interval by using this model. Thermograms of alkaline hydrolysis of ethyl propionate and ethyl acetate have been measured at 25℃, respectively. The themographic data calculated by using the characteristic thermogram equation are in reasonable agreement with those read from the thermograms.     

Liouville–Green (WKB) asymptotics for almost-diagonal linear second-order matrix difference equations

A Liouville–Green (or WKB) asymptotic approximation theory is developed for a class of almost-diagonal (‘asymptotically diagonal’) linear second-order matrix difference equations. Rigorous and explicitly computable bounds for the error terms are obtained, the asymptotics being made with respect to both, the index and some parameter affecting the equation. The case of the associated inhomogeneous equations is also considered in detail. Some examples and a number of applications are presented for the purpose of illustration.     

Hyperbolic measures, moments and coefficients. Algebra on hyperbolic functions

With convolutions, we determine the Fourier transform of when n is a positive integer. Studying the expansion and taking the Fourier transform of when n and d are strictly positive integers, we obtain some polynomials and new probability densities related to them.     

A two-grid method for elliptic problem with boundary layers

A two-grid method for the elliptic equation with a small parameter ε multiplying the highest derivative is investigated. The difference schemes with the property of ε-uniform convergence on a uniform mesh and on Shishkin mesh are considered. In both cases, a two-grid method for resolving the difference scheme is investigated. A two-grid method has features that are concerned with a uniform convergence of a difference scheme. To increase the accuracy, the Richardson extrapolation in two-grid method is applied. Numerical results are discussed.

Two-dimensional vortex sheets for the nonisentropic Euler equations: Nonlinear stability

We show the short-time existence and nonlinear stability of vortex sheets for the nonisentropic compressible Euler equations in two spatial dimensions, based on the weakly linear stability result of Morando and Trebeschi (2008) [20]. The missing normal derivatives are compensated through the equations of the linearized vorticity and entropy when deriving higher-order energy estimates. The proof of the resolution for this nonlinear problem follows from certain a priori tame estimates on the effective linear problem in the usual Sobolev spaces and a suitable Nash–Moser iteration scheme.
